They can; I think if you don't think they can you've got some personal issues.

i think the more important question is "can two women be friends while wearing the same outfit?"

This question was settled, I believe, in an episode of I Love Lucy.

This question was settled, I believe, on an episode of Will & Grace.

Of course. But the man will still want to bang the woman, under many circumstances.

I'm with Enabran on this one. And, I've been told, it's often the same the the other way round too.

Yes. But only when the male component of the friendship is involved with someone who isn't the female component.

Trust me on this one. ;)

A man and a woman can be friends if both have no interest in screwing the other.

Otherwise, things get f*cked up.

No, that's not true. Things might get fucked up, if the screwing actually occurred, but they wouldn't necessarily get fucked up if the interest wasn't acted upon. I have a few friends who I have "an interest" in screwing, and who feel the same way about me; but for various reasons --- #1? Well, yes, not wanting things to get fucked up! --- we choose to suffer the (kinda) delicious (minor) agony of not bumping uglies, as they say. Or even, as they also say, boxing tonsils.

It's not the intent, see: It's the action that makes the difference.

To me.

I agree totally. On a side note, if things do happen any effects are negated if both parties are drunk.

Men trade love for sex.

Women trade sex for love.

Or so it is said.

Even if it's only partly true, how great that we have the approriate currencies!

Hell yes!

Infact, I find it easier to relate and get closer to men than women, I think its jealously issues (pretty bitches).

I do think that men and woman can be friends w/o boinking each other. Having said that, if there is a sexual attraction, both probably know it and think to themselves, "If we were both single etc...". That in itself is normal and ok, acting on those desires is another matter entirely.

Now for single people, if there is an attraction from both parties, it is inevitable that the friendship will go beyond friends at some point. If the attraction is one sided, it is a recipe for some poor person to eventually get hurt. If there is no attraction from either party then friends works nicely.

I am sure many of you have heard the saying, "It is ok to look at the menu if you always go home for dinner". hehe

These are generalitits of course and there are exceptions to every case.

WIllow, you are a very attractive woman. You may have quite a few friends who are guys but I am betting that most of em would take it further if given the opportunity given that they are single too. Just a hunch from a guy's perspective, I could be wrong... doubtfull but possible. :)

May I replace this question with another? Why do people, generally female, separate the concept of "friends" as if they are some holy, assexual entity towards which you are forbidden to feel any attraction?
Really. My best friend is my girlfriend and I'd gladly do any of my other friends. Hell, I will even tell that to their faces, they usually grin and thank me or even flirt back ;)

The source of difficulties in male/female friendships often begin in the biological "gray areas" of human relations.

For instance, is spanking (nothing too harsh, mind you, just a few swats to show me who's boss) permissible amongst friends?
