I actually kinda like it, and wouldn't mind having one as long as I wouldnt be loooked at like a lunatic, I think that is actually what stops a lot of people from doing it..... they don't want to be beat down or killed because of a mustache. Meh, it's late im rambling.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with that last option there...But yes, muttonchops need to return to the mandibles of the presidency (please recall images of President Grover Cleaveland), then be widely dispersed throughout the Western world.

Gah...
My girlfriend pleaded with me to grow muttonchops the summer we started dating. So I did. Later I found out she thought they looked stupid but didn't want to hurt my feelings, instead letting me look like an ass that entire summer. Almost 4 years later now, and she hasn't made any further requests for my facial hair, since that summer fiasco.  This is sorta what I looked like. Shaved head, same facial hair, but the chops continued up to the top of my ears, unlike the guy in the pic.  _____________________
