From: Tod69 Talamasca I think part of the USA's outlook on nudity has to do with it's religious background & puritan history. USA is way too puritan and stuff. We need a nudist island sim! (and I DON'T mean Furnation with invisible prim highlight turned on)

As they say "We've come a long way, baby!" Reading about the Puritans and how they lived makes you SO grateful we arent exactly like them. They make the Amish look like Party Animals And if you're Amish & take offense at that comparrison- WTF ARE YOU DOING LOOKING AT A COMPUTER MONITOR YOU SINNER!!!!!!

US are prolly the most contradictory country I have ever seen, where there's the biggest puritans and bigots you could find (who do you think wants to launch a new crusade ?) and on the other hand it is the country where the porn industry is the strongest and exploring the deepest and wierdest kinks you can imagine. to me US is like a child raised in a puritan family and who discovers sex at puberty and abuses of it because of its novelty oh and : From: Cannae Brentano If being naked was supposed to be acceptable, we would have been born that way. Just for you information as you don't seem to recall your birth and doesn't seem to have children ... last time I checked baby are born naked and as far as I know clothes are only another burden put down on us by the all mighty, thight assed judeo-christian moral. (waits for the flame to come )

(waits for the flame to come ) Be fair, the same rules come from almost every other society as well. The only humans that had a traditionally loose approach to sex (and dress code) were those that lived in isolated areas, the arctic, islands and such, where it was essential to encourage outbreeding to maintain a healthy gene pool. Not a problem in SL of course.

Not a problem in SL of course. Sergeant, I am fair, I'm not talking about sexual attitude or anything related to sex ... I was talking about the judeo-christian relation with clothes, in most (I said most as I know there's other societies where clothes do have a role also) societies clothes are simply a way to protect the body from its environment (cold, heat, sun, etc). In the judeo-christian societies the body is the vessel of sin and therefor should be hidden and mortified to expiate "our" sins. Nudity is highly frowned at in judeo-christian culture.

According to Kinsey, people who are able to find sexual gratification in fantasies (pornographic images, clothing, fetish items, imagination...anything that isn't actual people) are often more educated (and, he presumes, more intelligent) than those who can only find sexual gratification in the act of coitus (sex) itself, who (he concludes) are mostly less-educated "working class" people.
Strip away the non-politically correct language of the 1940s and you get this conclusion: masturbate all you like, as it shows you have a functioning brain. ^_^

You have to be mistaken. Someone is going to have to speak up for the United States. Americans would NEVER be upset about that sort of thing. To be afraid showing the body. To say that it is WRONG and evil for RELIGIOUS reasons? I mean, wake up people...everyone in the world right now knows that the United States is fighting every day to make sure that women in Iraq do NOT have to cover up the body, just because of religious beliefs! They say THAT is morally wrong and unfair to make someone do that. So, America could never be that contradictory...I mean....How could they do that?
Oh wait....I guess THAT is different....It is not THEIR religion!

Oh wait....I guess THAT is different....It is not THEIR religion! Sandy sandy, don't you remember the ramble that happened when Janet Jackson accidentaly showed her nipple on stage ? It almost sounded as she commited a crime so please don't try to make me believe showing pieces of skin wouldn't be found offensive in US. Regarding the religious reasons please sandy tell me you don't trust what you government says about the reasons that made them invade (yes it was an invasion basically and litteraly, no matter what the reasons were, look at a dictionnary) Iraq. everybody (well most of the people with a minimum of critical mind) knows that -if- it was in the smallest way related to religion it would simply be to eliminate the "infidels" once again in a holy crusade. Try to be objective and tell me isn't US the world's biggest host for aggresive christians integrists ?. To conclude I'd say that I didn't mean contradictory in a bad way, I am not an american hater I just say what I think is wrong in this country (as I say what I find wrong in mine ... and trust me there's a lot lol). I said america is contradictory because it has communities that fiercly fight to defend two extreme points of view that are completely opposed. I hope I am clear as I know I'm not that good in english (yes I -am- french and damn proud of it even if I love speaking english ) if I have confused you even a bit my goal is reached P.S. Tod ... I'm a guy ... and I'd love a cigar with a glass of Cognac

Perhaps I should be the one apologizing for confusing you.
Look under the dictionary for something called "sarcasm".

Read Sandy's post all the way to the end. It seems you've missed all the sarcasm and irony.

WAIT a minute... what about the Islamic culture, where women aren't supposed to go out without their heads uncovered? And how many countries still require their women to wear veils when outside the home? In certain Asian countries, women are virtually property. Female children are drowned at birth... or worse. And you say WE'RE oppressed? Perhaps Europe is less uptight about nudity, but that's a small part of the rest of the world.

No, actually Europe is a pretty big part of the world. Just look at a map. There IS a reason it is considered a continent ya know.
