After all, like There, TSO's numbers have gone straight into the dumpster as people migrate to SL. So if you get your account now, you should have no problems finding land to build a house.

Check this graph:

TSO peaked at about 105,000 subscribers back in early 2003. Since then, they've gone straight down and hover around the mid-30,000 range currently. There has yet to break 20,000 even on a good day. In comparison, Second Life is in the mid-60,000 range as of this month and still going up.

End of discussion - TSO's the place to be for maximum fun and enjoyment. All the griefers left for SL.

I heard from a TSO resident (in SL) that TSO is closing in October. Nows your chance to be there when the lights go off!

I'm still cross-eyed from all those squiggly lines in Cindy's graph. ;)

I let the door of TSO hit me in the ass on the way out years ago! :D

Actually, there are Therians in SL, and some of them (Lost, Starley etc) are amongst our most creative designers. So no, you can't call the tards Therians cos that name's been reserved for the There residents who saw the light and came here.

Yehbut, see, in order to do that in SL you have to have an animation, a particle effect, a script and a poseball.

No such thing in TSO! If you gotta go, you go!

You people are disturbed, highly disturbed. I don't even know why the Linden closed my thread. I mean, it isn't like these are the Second Life forums. People seriously need to get serious about converting to the light.

Joel, you're getting confused again. Anyhow, I just want some stuff to make my There vacation more interesting. Aren't you gonna take me on a tour later? You shouldn't offer if you are just going to call me names. You could at least give me a tourist guide or something.

@Alpha

You're actually surprised they locked it? Where I came from we mods don't just close threads like those. They're removed, and quickly too.

You got a forum violation to boot. Congrats.

Oh, and these ARE the secondlife forums ... check the URL in your browser.

DUH! seriously try reading some of the threads, we are quite insane. We let things like logic and reason run all over everything like deranged cattle. These forums are no place for children.

Just cause I didn't get to post in the locked idiot thread earlier (and I needed an idiot outlet today) -- here's my experience with There.

My wife and I, after hearing about There, and thinking, "Whoa, there must be something going on with that virtual world, because I see it being posted about as another potential branch of the metaverse," signed up and logged in.

First of all, the camera controls have WAY too much swing or play in them -- I immediately felt drunk because I could hardly focus on what might have caught my eye. Then, as we were standing on the beach welcome area thing, a group of people started forming around us by bumping into our shoulders and somehow making us into an annoying circle of same-looking avs, all chatting away inanely about nothing, as far as I could tell. The first thing that was said to my wife was, "Hey, you got a man?" and then, "Are you faithful, or are you looking?" When she relayed that I was her man, we were both called names and told we were stupid. So we unjoined that retard ring, and went exploring, which was less than exciting itself. Empty places with little imagination, and still the crummy camera movement. Coupled with the facts that all content has to be approved before it gets placed inThere, the avs look disturbingly cartoonish (especially for the rude behavior exhibited from residents), the lack of interactivity, and the seemingly non-existant ties to anything outside of There, it has made our decision to stay with SL remarkably easy.

And to Alpha/Joel -- I respect that you love your virtual world, but until it has the freedom that SL has with regard to creation and interactivity, and until it has a collective mentality of somewhere above the age of 15, no amount of lackluster screenshots or videos will ever entice residents of SL to seriously switch platforms. Plus, the "metaverse" is definitely about more than just the game/platform itself, and by doing a google search on the two platforms, SL wins hands down -- there are (relatively) an infinite amount of interesting blogs, websites, forums, and other 2d web things linking to or talking about SecondLife, whereas There has virtually none. In other words, SecondLife (or programs with its versatility) will be the road to the metaverse, not There.

Well, I do apologize for your bad experiences in There. I'm sorry about the way you feel about There, I truly do. It does sadden me to see people not have good experiences in There because I know that enjoying There is possible. I'm living proof, I have enjoyed There for around 2 years. But instead of looking at what There doesn't offer you have to look at what it does. It may offer little in comparision to Second Life but you still need to keep an open mind. There is about simplicity, but you'd be suprised what amazing things can truly come out of that simplicity.

I have to say that I disagree with you when you say Second Life will be the road to the Metaverse. SL's high amount of customizability has lead to so many problems within it's platform. There is more mature content then PG content, which isn't a good thing. I think Second Life has done an exellent job at creating the world's biggest cyber sex bar online, but other then that I don't see how it has done anything. The Lindens and SL members may laugh at that statement but really do think about it.

Second Life may have a part to play in the Metaverse, but it isn't the direct key to creating the Metaverse.

It might not be.. but it -is- ahead of There in the race to be it.

You haven't really explored much of SL, then. That puts your opinion of it somewhere below "uninformed".
