At least for people in the USA, the contents of this video may just save you a whole lot of hassle some day.

I've never had the pleasure ( :p ) of a run in with the law, but I've always heard it's in your best interest to say absolutely NOTHING if you're arrested except to ask for your phone call to call a lawyer.

hehe a little tip for most service men/women carry your dogtags and when you get pulled over for say speeding, just say you have to get back to the base :D it works everytime

Are you saying that in the USA the military are seen as above the law? That would explain a lot.

Alternatively, if you know a volunteer fireman, put one of their stickers on your car. Cops see it and never pull you over.

no its a respect thing, most cops are former military. They will understand that you wanted to spend as much time with your family or whatever but you have to be back on base before your leave is up. seriously just watch the highways leading to military bases late on sunday nights.

corruption would be if the soldiers were paying off the cops. Like I said its a respect thing. I take it you have never served in uniform.

Annnnnnnnddddd.....He's talking about speeding...not drinking and driving, not robbery, not murder. You don't have to be a fireman or military to get out of a ticket for going 10 MPH over the speed limit. Just be COOL to the cop, don't lie and have all your paperwork up2date. It works 90% of the time.

I bet you think that in your wonderful country, this doesn't happen...LMFAO

Being a well-mannered, polite, law abiding citizen is obviously sensible if you are caught speeding; not attempting to use your status to your advantage(such as being in the military etc) as you suggested.

It does happen here too; we call it the "old boy network" (a reference to having been at the same private school).

Alternatively, it helps to be a mason. I find that equally distasteful. Sorry if you don't like that and if you think it makes me less human.

I don't think soldiers are above the law, however since alot of cops here are ex-military they understand that family time is severly limited so they will "excuse" (usually with a "better slow it down some" warning) a little speeding if it will afford the soldier more time with his family. Its mainly cops in towns within about 50 miles of a base, as long as its the right service (Marine at an Air Force base type thing ;))

You almost make it sound OK but selective use of laws can't be justified.

I think the difference of opinion here stems from a political/cultural difference about equality in the eyes of the law. Some of our Royal Family have had fines for speeding (Princess Anne several times.) It sounds as though it would be rather different there.
