r3314x!

dont str33ss0rz cuz sum h4xx0rz tuk d0wn th3 gr1d

it h4pp3ns, u no. w3 411 g0tt4 d34! w!th it.

So suck it up and learn to type, spell, take a breath, and count to 10 before you click "Submit". That's what being an adult is all about.

and on a side note: I'm going to track down and smack the next person who types "u" when he means "you", says "4" when he means "for", or types the words "enuf", "tonite", "laff", or "neone".

And what's with "it's" and "its"? I learned that in 4'th grade. I was 8.

Are we really a nation of 7 year old adults these days? :-(

I'm not mocking how someone writes.

I'm mocking laziness. Anybody who can drive a car, use a computer, and dress themselves can use the English language (at least if they grew up here)... it's just a matter of caring enough to do it right.

Your communication skills are generally the first impressions people have of you.

If you're talking like a 12 year old on an AIM client, then people will tend to treat you accordingly.

Maybe it's deliberate? Or it's just a way of trying to reflect the way we speak in written form. Or maybe English is his second language? English is my second language, and I'm a little more forgiving when it comes to strange spellings, grammatical errors, slang speak and the like. I just always have to remember that everyone isn't gifted with the eloquence of Shakespear, besides he's just venting out his frustrations about the situation and not really hitting on anybody. I've read some of the posts here in the forum typed in perfect english but the content was just horrible and mean.

It's better to judge the content than bash him for grammar/punctuation/etc.

You know, I was going to say something witty to Enerbran, but oh well, if he wants to be a retard, let him. A linden will delete his signature and give him a warning......maybe...

Looks like it's already happened.....

Uh, no, I deleted my own signature because I was sick of having the "Edit" button 10,000 pixels to the right.

edit: In any case, I never saw any rules that said I couldn't have an enormous sig.

Yay no rules!

On a side note, can you please change your name to Enerbran, it sounds like a really boweltastic cereal.

Kthx!

If you can do a better job than I suggest that you apply to Linden Lab expressing you interest and qualifications to do what they do even better.

Here's a post I made to Aimee's "How about a deposit" thread:

From: Myself
Ya know... now that I think about it... Aimee's idea isn't that bad if tweaked a bit. Let's face it, the reason there are a lot of security holes and that it is fairly easy to crash a sim and/or the grid is that there is a scripting language open for anyone to use (or abuse).

Perhaps requiring some sort of cash deposit before allowing access to the scripting language isn't entirely a bad idea. Then when someone programs a griefer tool, there can be restitution.

I don't know how much a potential "scripters deposit" would stifle creativity, and I'm not sure I even support the idea. But its would definitely provide a set of consequences for asshats who think its super cool to use a scripting language to crash servers.

Is this idea gaining more of an upside as we continue to see LSL exploited?

Regards,

-Flip

It's taken me some time to work out what e1 in a previous posting is supposed to mean. I suppose that typing that code saves six whole keystrokes, but it does rather put the onus on the reader to expend the effort involved in translating it.

In other words these contractions could be regarded as lazy and discourteous.

I always thought the purpose of communication was to get your point across easily and quickly with the least effort. Somehow that no longer seems to be the case.
