Okay, I have a weird voice chat problem. When I enable voice, this appears in the chat: Connecting to in-world Voice Chat... Connected
problem is though, it keeps on repeating over and over and never actually stays connected. Also, I can't hear other people, speak to other people and although I have the white dot over my head, others can't see it!
Help?

Nothing new there. The 'connecting' spam message is telling you its polling the voice servers. The basic principal is, when you first connect, the white dot appears to say you have registered with the voice servers. In the Active Speakers list, you may not see anyone listed for sometime, until you are transfered to the 'room' where these people are. It's the same principal with the likes of TeamSpeak, whereby you log in, then have to click a 'room/directory' where people are before you can join the conversation. The reason you are being connected and disconnected is because the voice server system is perhaps waiting on 'location' information from the SL servers, to know what 'room' you should be in.

Checkout your connection on a website specifically for VOIP testing and make sure you have the right quality and sufficient consistant bandwidth. Packet loss and high ping times will reduce your ability to stay connected to a voice server.
In preferences, Network tab, turn down your bandwidth in small increments (down to 300 as a minimum), as the voice connection is not done through the SL bandwidth usage, but runs alongside the bandwidth SL uses via the OS.

Same here, Funninonebabe. Spams every minute. Also, my name is the only name that appears in the Active Speakers list when I'm connected, and even that's grayed out. The Mute settings below the list are always grayed out.
Voice used to work for me, too. And it also conked out on me about 4 weeks ago.
I'm hearing all ambient noise and music, i.e., SL sounds work fine. The problem is likely specific to SLVoice.
* I tried AWM's tip but that hasn't changed anything. * Going hi-speed via ethernet cable (I'm usually on Wi-Fi) didn't change anything. * Reinstalling SL didn't change anything.
I haven't tried port-forwarding around the firewall as per the Voice FAQ. Which seems unlikely to change anything, esp. since we don't have to port-forward SL, but otherwise I'm out of options.
Any help sure would be 'preciated !

Sounds like the dreaded 401 Unauthorized has struck again! When voice first came out, a bunch of us had this problema nd it IS very frustrating. It turned out to be a problem on Vivox's side, with a server. Put in a support ticket, and I'll post the link to the thread that was started about the same problem. /111/c4/201797/1.html

If you are using windows XP, open control panel (start, settings, control panel) double click the Firewall icon, when the window opens, click the Exceptions Tab, make sure all SLVoice are checked, if it is not there, click Add and navagate to the secondlife folder and select SLVoice.
If you have another software firewall, add SLVoice to that exceptions list.
If you are using a USB headset, make sure it is plugged in before you start SL. In preferences, Voice Chat, use the drop down boxes to select your actual soundboard, not system default as that uses DirectX accelloration. If your soundboard isn't in the list, or you cannot use the drop down box, go back to Control Panel, click the Sounds/Audio icon, go to Voice tab and make sure your soundboard is shown there and not system default. Assuming it is, use the Test Hardware button facility to check that the microphone is registering, if is does not, then the voice servers will not link you to the servers.
See if that helps.
