From: Striker Wolfe Ron, now that I think about it, when I had a 6800 I believe it did give me less FPS by having AGP on. You are absoutly right! My theory is because there is an AGP version of the 6 series and not the 7. Probly based their PCI-e off the AGP model and screwed something up in teh conversion.

I have very similar specs to Xan, including a 6800GT PCI-e 256MB. AGP on for me improves the average fps by about 8. Turning AGP off, decreases fps by about 8. Overall fps averages at about 32 (with AGP on) I have a HT processor rather than a dual core. Setting affinity to a single process make absolutely no difference whatsoever. I think with many computer issues, there's no such thing as a definitive solution!

Yeah, even turning AGP on or off makes no difference... the entire client is lagged. *shrugs* It's working under Linux at least, but I still want to get it working in Windows since all of my DJ software works in Windows only right now. Definitely weird stuff

From: Xan Woyseck Torley, how should I go about addressing this to support? I have two troubletickets assigned and no response yet I'd recommend waiting to hear back... hopefully soonish... and then as it continues, you can attach the screenshot or point a link to this thread.

I have a Geforce MX and see a weird candy colored loading texture instead fo grey.
Trippy but wish they'd fix it. I was told my card was old (it is) but I hope support goes on.

Thought I'd give a bit of an update:
The last couple of updates have done nothing for my issue. I submitted another bug report to LL to see if I hear anything back this time.
Out of curiousity, does anyone know anything about the Network listed in Fast Timers? If I could figure out why it's so high, I'd be in good shape

And one more for good measure. I did some more troubleshooting / testing on the Windows side of the thing, to the point of reinstallation of Windows. I'm still getting the exact same issue. So, I *know* it's not hardware or driver related. What I did find in the log file were errors in regards to packets. Unfortunately I don't have the logfile I saw this in because SL overwrites the log on each run.
The messages were saying something along the lines of packets out of order, so it seems as though the network info is getting messed up. After seeing that, I loaded out the Win32 port of Etherreal and watched the packet stream between the SL client on my machine and server. I stopped it after a bit and noticed that some packets had CRC errors. I'm hoping I don't rile up the Lindens by watching these packets, but I want to help gather information into what's going on with the client in this case.
The interesting thing is that running the same client on Wine in Linux doesn't produce the errors in the logfile. I have yet to see if the packets are corrupted or not. I'll report back.

Try changing the version of your network drivers, possibly *downgrading* them if need be. Windows Update can update drivers without you really noticing it. I'm assuming after you reinstalled you did an update, right? 'Cos if you didn't then that might be the other issue The fact that it works in Wine basically implies that it's not a hardware issue, but is probably a driver or possibly scheduling issue on the Windows side. If you know code, try setting up a program that streams UDP packets to your computer and see how many get through. Such a utility would be useful anyway actually .... hmmm

If that doesn't work, I'll have to see if I can whip something up to test the UDP packets out. What's odd, though, is any other online game functions well without a huge ping time. WoW, Battlefield 2, Halflife 2 show no significant lag. It's like something in the SL client is conflicting, because before a certain version (I forget what version, this has been ongoing for almost a month now), SL ran like a dream in Windows.

Ok, here's the final word...
It's working again! I found one of the drivers from Dell threw this thing into network hell. Retried the drivers again, and SL is once again happy. Thanks to everyone for the insight
