I like being able to see the property lines especially when I am on my own land. So it is very annoying that everytime I log in, I have to go into the pull down menu and re-check show property lines, and this is every time I log in.
I liked the way things were when this feature remained checked.

too bad

The Lindens have decided that SHOW PROPERTY LINES has an adverse affect on framerates, so they're discouraging us from using the feature. They've made it more difficult to activate by keyboard (you must use CTL-ALT-SHIFT-P now instead of just P) and they've made it non- persistant across sessions. Welcome to the new SL!

I've found that SL is detrimental to SL's frame rates. Now you need to enter a series of 18 keystrokes to enter the game, in addition to your login and pass.

Just out of sheeeer curiosity, who else wants Property Lines to STICK between logins so you don't have to keep turning them on? The current behavior is intentional, I should mention, as I wrote here, but I'm wondering to get a better idea of how peeps use this feature--because I know I use the lines myself.

Its the same with me, i like options to enable and not let the system "forget" i did just enable it cause i had to restart, like Force sunset, (its actually sunset now! not daytime yay?), So yeah add me , cause i like to see where things start/end , especially when trying to build on a plot (rare as that is)

I miss my property lines
01-16-2006 06:43
Yes...I used to always keep the lines checked and still do. Except I have to recheck it every time. I'm always puttering around my property which is not huge (2560 m2) and seeing the lines helps me not to push trees and things onto the neighbors property. Just yesterday, I had done a little puttering and stuck out a few trees I had purchased along the property line. Then went to do a little more shopping and they all got returned. Seems my "memory" of the line is not as good as actually seeing them. Please can this stick?

They are invaluable in air navigation at "night", and they can help one avoid the a**clowns with the abusive security scripts.

When they could be switched on accidentally just by pressing "P", switiching them off at login made good sense (esp for newbies).
Now that you need an explicit crtl-alt-shift-P, I think the occurance of accidental activations will be reduced to almost none. Persisting across logins would deliver value to those who want it, but no longer harm those who don't understand it.

Me.
I use(d) property lines constantly. As Jillian said, they are very handy for navigation... Even if a plot hasn't rezed, or it's too dark to see well, I can get a sense of where things are in the sim through property lines, particularly if its a sim I'm well aquainted with.

The Lindens seem to be in a constant conflict between "ease of use" for newbs and "advanced features" for oldbies. So far, the newb contingent seems to be winning. It feels like we are watching the client being "dumbed down" to be more attractive to newbs.

Could we get some data on how this was tested, how much of an effect LL says it has, and so forth?

I somtimes like to have the property lines on, and when I do I expect them to stay on.
They don''t slow my client down enough to matter. Wouldn't this be a problem of having to keep sending the data, like the popup information was?

MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!!!! Also, I've ALWAYS wanted to have the option for other things to stick as well... like movement and camera controls. Why is it the minimap will stay up, but I can't have the camera controls always on? ESPECIALLY since there's not keyboard shortcut for those.

Me too! I prefer to have these on all the time, especially when building to make sure I'm not outside my property line. I also like them on to see how far properties I'm visiting go so i know how much of an area is their attraction and not something else. I keep them on all the time on my property because my hubby and I share an area and i want to keep my traffic on my side..it's only an $L or two at a time, but they add up!
I HATE having to turn them on EVERY time I log in. How badly could it have affected FPS??? I can't believe it was that much of an effect...I havn't noticed any improvement in my area having them off.
make it go back to the old way! Leave the 4 key toggle...it's not hard to remember or do, but don't make us do it every time we log.
Thanks

Persistant property lines... DUH! All settings should be persistant. The day a Linden wants to come over to WV and set up my client each time I login is the day LL should be deciding what settings are reset each time, until then my call. It doesn't have a noticable impact on my framerate and I need them on all the time. Property lines and every other setting that reverts to off ever login should be restored to remembering settings ASAP. It reflects a sloppy and arrogant thought process.

One would think they were getting the idea when they made music playing/silence persistent. There was enough shouting about that one that they actually fixed the problem. One wonders if the shouting this time will have a similar happy result. One also wonders if LL might consider taking the briefest of moments to reflect on developing a consistent UI design, perhaps even dedicating a few resources to the task of bringing the UI as well as the scripting into a more consistent whole.

I do!

I want property lines to stay on. I'd also like my camera controls to stay on persistent between logons. First thing I have to do every time I log on is turn on both. Sigh.
