/111/d8/72142/1.html <--- lots of people are having this problem. It might have something to do with the latest patch scheduled for Monday. I really hope this gets resolved,
![]() Your firewall might have something to do with it, though, it might not be letting your internet connection connect to SL fully. I don't know enough though. You might want to contact support about this. |

My first action was to turn off my firewall so it's probably something else. |

Yay, I'm glad you made it. This happens to me too sometimes, usually before and after patches.

Problems connecting with 1.7.2(5)
The 1.7.2(5) update fixed a problem where we were not accurately detecting the graphics hardware, and therefore not optimizing Second Life's settings. This caused many people with slower hardware to have settings which *decreased* performance. While the update has fixed the problem some users had, it seems that it has indeed caused another -- albeit one which may have existed for some users with past versions. The behavior of the 1.7.2(5) client seems to have caused some anti-virus programs to think that Second Life is a virus (!), preventing a connection to our servers. The workaround for this is to go into the list of approved applications for your anti-virus program and add the "Second Life.exe" application to that list permanently. Please try this and see if it resolves the problem. <---posted by a Lindin in a thread similar to this one, where people can't connect. |

I'm glad I came here to check. I'm unable to log in also. I am stuck at the lon-on screen. Same here. I was in earlier, but I couldnt do sqwat! Now I cant get in at all. I have to host in half an hour Doesnt give me reason why I cant get in. Just that login failed. SL is on my firewall list. This is making me mad. I cant play the game I pay for. How can I possibly reccomend SL to anyone on the outside? I want in dammit! |

Carmilla......
I know EXACTLY how you feel. If they keep "fixing" things the way they are, they'll fix themselves right out of a few customers. The past month I've had nothing but problems with all the improvements they have presented us with._____________________

ok, I just managed to log in. I think this proves it's not my firewall, not my anti-virus software, not my video card, not my nothing !!!!

Same here on not getting in, was in Friday, logged to have dinner and have not been in since. Have uninstalled/reinstalled, had someone physically change my region area, updated video card, updated Windows and yet everytime I update and change something they have something else I haven't done.
The funniest was telling me to update windows today since Sat I had my computer completely taken down and redone, uninstalled XP so it was there Fri when I started having the issue. I have come to the conclusion that they are full of the same thing a horse stall is, and I will not be back in game until tommorrow's update. This doesn't do much to ease the frustration level or my happiness. I have also decided they have the worst customer support of any business I have ever seen, it's never their fault and they never accept responsibility..if Walmart was like that it wouldn't have any customers! |

Yeah, they know about this by now, Karen Lindin said it was because the virus programs on your computers are treating Sl like a virus. I don't use one, so I'm not having this problem. I'm sure the update tommorrow will probably address this, if not, the fix she suggested is in my comment above.

I did a fresh install of windows on one of my comps. Turned off the firewall on it completely. installed SL. And I am still having the same problems as with my other comps. I am still hanging at "logging in" and timing out there. Except for about 1/20th of the time, I manage to get though, the fact that I am able to get through "every once in a while" makes me think it's LL side rather than my side.

I'm having this problem yet again... sigh. And no, it isn't the firewall. The problem is on LL part, since I was connecting without problems two days ago...
