Its funny...

You know what I think is funny.. The way one person starts to rant on some of these threads, and then a bunch of people start to rag on LL because of the issues. And then they get insulting, insulting the intelligence of the creators of the virtual world...

And I think its funny because Im 100% sure that not a one of them could have done what Linden Labs has done, and yet they continue to complain as if LL doesnt know there is an issue. I read the thread regarding the search problems, and I must have read the same post worded differently at least 70 times.

It amazes me how ignorant some of you people are, and it sickens me. If you have such problems with Linden Labs and second life, please go do something else... Heck you could go to SOE and play Everquest. They need more people like the "post greifers" here.

You guys would be much happier with a solid, scripted base that SOE games provide... No problems there. In case you didnt notice my comment was laced thickly with Sarcasm.

The thing that most of you DO NOT understand, is that SECONDLIFE OR ANYTHING LIKE IT HAS NEVER BEEN ATTEMPTED BEFORE, and with ANYTHING new... Its going to have issues. I think these issues we have been seeing are a small price to pay for the developing freedom LL has given us to develop what we want...

So instead of trying to act like you have something to say when dealing with these situations... Actually THINK about what you are saying instead of trying to fit in with everyone else.

And I think its funny because Im 100% sure that if LL focused on fixing bugs, optimizing SL, and communicating with us (customers) instead of working on new so called features or sculpties contest, there will be way less people ragging around.

And I also think it's funny coz I'm 100% sure that LL is raking in big bucks from the premium account members and those who have businesses in-world and yet, their updates brought more harm than benefits. Imagine that they did a 2-hour downtime last night for an overnight searched borked. People are not trying to fit in, it's how they feel towards LL and their lack of concern towards an immediate resolve of the issue.

I realise this is ground breaking stuff but I doubt they are doing the best possible, whether it's due to ignorance, beancounting or just not knowing what they are doing.

Oh but let me tell you about something funnier. The way one person rants about people who rant. I particularly like it when they start screaming in block capitals towards the end of their post. Irony doesn't get much more delicious.

Haven't I read this post before...strange...shows as a new post, but yet I could swear I have read this before...

Anyhow, welcome to the forums Lexii...I hate to tell you, but there is nothing new and surprising pointed out here. It has been hashed over time and time again. You will find people who post rants because they are annoyed the system does not work up to thier standards. You will then see others pointing out how they could do so much better, yet when asked, they never respond as to HOW they would do better. Next you will see posts from people like yourself that stick up for LL pointing out it is a new endeavor and if people don't like it they should go elsewhere.

Oh heck, now I feel like I have typed that before...The point is, LL is trying new things, yes. Most people are happy with what they get for the most part so they stay. Some are not as happy and rant in the forums, yes. Some make thier first post a rant either for or against LL, yes.

IT IS A FORUM after all (had to throw in my own caps thing for those that will rip apart my post) ANY forum you visit you will run into the same thing. good posts, bad posts, funny posts, sad posts. The real thing is....YOU, the reader, have the choice of wasting time and responding when you feel the world is unjust...or you can just let it go and sign back into SL and do what you find fun. And before someone says "Oh, but you just wasted time posting".....Yes, yes I did. Those who know me, know I enjoy wasting time....I am the SL slacker

I don't think there are *that* many ranters here. They just stand out more due to the nature of ranting. I agree that ranting can be unhelpful, but is it any more unhelpful than ranting about ranting? You're absolutely right. You've definitely seen that post before because I have too. Many times somebody has felt the need to put the entire forum community into a little box labelled ranters before bestowing this particular knowledge.

People have a legitimate right to criticise and complain. After all, many of them pay hundreds of dollars in tier per month, others pay thousands. Some people have businesses that lose money when people can't login, others can't deal with customer service issues if they can't login but others can.

Ultimately it's just rude to insult all these people before insincerely wishing them a nice day. Most forum users are actually quite constructive.

While I am not at all surprised in the nature of most of your posts, I am surprised at the number of them.

Yes, it is my first post on this forum, and yes it may cause excitement... But I am simply stating facts. And while I can understand where premium members who pay 240+ a month for a sim have a reason to complain, I am mainly refering to the free users who (you can see in the blog post) that just seem to say nothing.

you know what... screw it Im not going to defend myself. I would just like to see one of the ranters actually do something about the issues. Thats all. I dont care if the entirety of the forums community gangs up on me, I honestly could care less.

I say, dump a few million dollars in development, make something completely unique and powerful as secondlife, and then try to get your development department to keep it completely CLEAN (had to use my CAPS) of bugs.

Like I am stating clearly in my first post, because of issues in secondlife, MANY members (not specifically the ones stated in this thread) persist in personally attacking Linden Labs, because they know there will be no retribution to their behavior... And I think its bogus. For once I would like to read an INTELLIGENT (emphesis on that word eh?) post regarding issues, or new features... rather than a prepubesant type response for things that LL is working on... Or has notified everyone there are issues of. In case you have no idea what I am getting at, please refer to the BLOG post regarding the searches.

As for this thread, please feel free to respond with intelligent posts, rather than, once again, insults of another persons intelligence or the fact that they have one post. I will respond if I feel compelled to do so from an intelligent response.

Hope I can join this forum community starting today, and be friends with many of you.

Anyway. Lexii, again, welcome to the forums and to SL. As I stated before, this is the nature of forums in general. Human nature somehow requires people to rant...the anonymity granted by a forum just furthers that impulse. There will be ranters, there will be ranters about others' ranting, there will be the peaceniks, there will be the outright random meanies, there will be the sarcasms and jokesters (points finger right at myself), there will the anti-sarcasms and anti-jokesters who see no humor whatsoever. So on and so forth.

I can only really speak on my own behalf, and that is, the reason I respond the way I do is that i am a firm believer that people need to relax more. Yes we can vent all day on whatever we wish, but the fact is...it's all been said before. Therefore I have to joke about deja-vu. In all seriousness, yes, you bring up a few good points, but so do others. You also bring up some bad points...(such as generalizing everyone as not being helpful) Many of the residents that post here have and continue to post very helpful info...myself included thank you kindly. I have recieved help and given help on a fairly regular basis.

Anyway. This is the virtual world we live in and with time, I am sure you will find that it is much easier to take everything with a grain or 20 of salt...At the end of the day, there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, that can be worth really getting upset over here. It is a virtual world and the exit button is always there for us when we need to get away. And when people come to this realization, I will be holding my Slackers 101 course in world 24/7.

You have to understand that LINDEN and the people who work at LL dont care about what people say. Have you noticed there is no help anymore, WHY ? Becuase they are fed up of being barracked with problems all the time. Who's fault ? LINDENS Fault

Second life hasn't been right and working in the correct way for over a year.

I have been waiting for a crashing problem and a system reset problem to be sorted. Have I been contacted - NO? Why? Because they don't care about problems anymore. I have been promised E-mails, they never come. I have been asked to report faults and sent in bug reports and they will look into it. Have they ? NO

Linden: Its about time you listened to what all your residents are saying. not ignoring things and bothering about things that are not neccesary or as important. Get you coders to sort out the problems that people are reporting to you everyday

OMG I think I love you. You have said what I have been thinking. Yes more updates were in order and I believe they have done more in the past couple of days. But overall I am having the time of my Second Live!!!!

Hey anyone can be happy with SL as long as they’re not having any serious problems…most rants start when people are unable to get back into the game or are unable to continue to enjoy the game in a way they have come to expect. But wait for the day when you have a real problem that prevents you from having the “time of your second life”, and help is no where to be found. Many of the rants could be prevented with improved customer service…period! When I feel that I’m not being listened to I get louder…heh?...I GET LOUDER (my creative use of caps). I didn’t start out loud. It’s not my nature. I don’t think I’m a ranter. Not on par with lets say…##########...well you know who you are.
