From: Berios Sholokhov The 3 Computers I have installed and run SL on have had absolutely no crash problems whatsoever... so maybe people could list what hardware NEVER crashes SL instead of listing what does? Might be best to get a new system if the problem can never be solved with your original one. Mine! Ok, it does- but due to some weird hang up it has with a router. XP's firewall is fine with it, but not a hardware router. Go figure!

Ok, I slapped in another gig stick of RAM (shouldn't effect anything) and a slot-port fan. No crashes tonight. I think I may have blown my vid card fan, but at the very least the trouble sems to have ben overheating.
Whew!

Whew! That wouldn't do it for those of us who have absolutely NO problems with other programs tho... I can run heavy things without problems on this computer - but SL? Nuh uh, crashing, can't log in after crashing, problems with being stuck in SL space once in a while during TP'ing... I really wish the lindens would give us some information as to what they're doing to solve this. I'm beginning to feel a little "left on my own" here...

I played SL las summer and never had 1 single crash. Got back in last month and thigs were ok until the last patch. Now i crash like ever 10 mins and the killer thing about it is that i just got a new video card for it. Now im back at my old video card and I still crash but last about another 5 min.
What really sucks about this is that it crashes when im making something....and also playing the game like tringo. I crashed sooo many times in the game of Tringo that i know i lost alot of $$$. I put up money in the pot and the game crashes a few min into the round.
I dont know what to do. Hopefully this soon to be release patch could solve this problem.
now the $$$ i dont know what to do. Lost alot i know that!!!!

I used to crash regularly when I started. In MY case...and Im not saying it will be true for everyone..... it stopped when I swapped from Norton to Macafee AV.

I'm experiencing the same thing here. I have the latest drivers for everything, the works. This has ONLY occured since the latest patch. Crashes every couple of minutes now. I was actually kind of shocked. SL hasn't really crashed very often at all before now. Radeon 9600 if anyone is interested... it hasn't failed me with any other game or application.

My friend's got this random crash issue too. He can stay on for minutes to about an hour and a half, but for no apparent reason SL becomes unresponsive, he can't switch programs, the XP "kill application" task list won't appear (ctrl+shift+esc) and he can't do a soft reboot (via Start menu or Ctrl+Alt+Del). He's forced to restart by pressing his hardware reset button.
I'm not exaclty sure of his hardware, it's the last GeForce before pixel shaders were implemented, a 1.5 GHz processor, 512 megs of ram, and XP. He's got all his drivers up to date, latest service pack for XP, turns off McAfee AV before SL starts up, and really only runs an IM program (gaim, which I run too with no problems) and Firefox (for the LSL wiki) in the background. He gets a reasonable 12-18 FPS while SL is working. I believe he also said he's got a 400 watt power supply, but it might be a bit heftier.
