Hey peeps..

I've been onto dell and i wouldn't even give them a capital d.. coz they don't deserve it.

I went to PC World ths morning to look into a new system, was wonderin could any of
you let me know what you think of this..

I got them to download the sl client on a Toshiba L20-198 Notebook..
It took like 10 minutes or more to download.. so i'm wondering why it took so long..
seems i can download the sl client in less than 2 minutes... i hope thats just coz their
connection was slower than mine.
When we installed the client we were able to access SL, but it was rather slugish..
once again i dunno if it's the system or their connection..

Here's the specs:

Toshiba L20-198
Inter Celeron M370 L20-198 CM 370

Main Product Features

*Intel Celeron M 370 Processor 1.5GHz
*400 MHz FSB
*1MB CACHE
*512 MB Ram
*40GB Hard Drive
*DVD SuperMulti Dual Layer Drivers
*15" TFT Display
*Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
*128 MB ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Graphics

1 Year Free Warranty

So Watcha think peeps?
I wonder if i get it woudl it be faster on my connection seems as SL Client takes
2 mins to download on my system and takes almost 125 mins on this tosh

What should i do? that's about all they have with ATI Graphics unless i'm spendin 2k

Could someone shout me up o nmsn please - ep_freeland@hotymail.com

I dunno weither to get a loan and buy this system it's 950 euro. no other option.
Sadly i cant bring the systems home and try them.. just like dell only worse with dell.
So before i go and hit the bank for a loan i though i'd ask here first.

*Intel Celeron M 370 Processor 1.5GHz = no good for SL, you need a real cpu, celeron is very bad.

Downloading SL slow was their slow isp, not the pc, but id avoid that one, Celeron isnt to good with cpu heavy programs/games, like SL is.

for 950 ish euro you can buy a decent desktop pc tho <.< laptops are smaller and expensier.

You in europe?, check this www.komplett.com , you can build your own pc there, and stuff, used these guys awhile (norway).

You need a new laptop that has just come out, it has a duel videocard setup. A wimpy intel video card for everyday use and a 6600 go for games. They are not too expensive either.

There is a screenshot from the laptop on this thread

You have to ask yourself if you intend on using the laptop off the battery much. The AMD processors are great for speed but not so good for battery life. The faster the processor, the hotter it gets as well and many laptops can't actually be used in your lap due to heat. If it is a desktop replacement then its no big deal, if it is going to me mobile a lot then you have to consider those factors.

The Pentium M CPU is a good choice even though I am an AMD man.

My advice is to see if you can get your local guy to carry similar machines. A lot of shops are selling these rebranded so it is a possibility.

Resolved issues
Had to remove Norton!

And it's running perfect with this intel graphics card.
