I read in /111/4d/127500/1.html that 8hrs in SL = 1.25Gb download - this is really worrying for me - I have a 20Gb monthly limit to downloads and use my machine in RL to earn my paltry crust, so would be awfully embarassed if I had to say to a customer "Sorry, I can't accept your 50Mb ad for the magazine 'cos I've been playing SL too much this month"

Is there any way to confirm/calculate how much download SL has used that anyone knows of? I REALLY need to be advised about this from someone that knows...

I'm in the UK, use BT 2Mb broadband and run a Mac if any of that is relevant.

Many thanks in advance,

Pri

noupe, depends how much you travel and avatars near you,

www.netlimiter.com , or lower your network setting in SL,
1 day in SL easy hit 1 gig download

most i ever gotten was 37gig ish a month, annoying cause you keep downloading the same thing over and over and over.

Thanks Thili for yr rapid reply. Unfortunately that app is for Windows (I'm on an older Mac that can't emulate/reboot into Windows) but it looks like the sort of thing I need.

So are you saying that if I visit fewer locations, or locations with fewer Avatars/less detail required to rez, then much less will be downloaded? That would make sense to me, so I obviously need to be a bit more thoughtful about where I go if I want to spin out my time in SL as well as earn a living in RL...

Have only just joined, and am finding it v difficult to stay away from this incredible virtual space, would happily spend every day all day here learning how to build stuff in between boring old RL work!

Thanks again for yr reply, anyone else any suggestions?
