I'm in the middle of building something or editing an object...then I cannot click on anything or move or do anything! I have to relog to fix it, then it happens again 2 to 3 minutes after I log back in. It's an endless cycle that I have been experiencing since the last update.

My cable connection is fine.

What's that all about?

You in a menu when you freeze up?, i know building can be frigging annoying with the current gui bugs not letting go of your mouse and then you can just spam tab/esc mad till you get out of it -.-;, or SL just freeze up when you edit or close edit menu,, woopie

Thanks Leeannansidhe I was about to recommend exactly the same, minimize is your friend - it works every time (except of course those occasional times when it freezes solid and the only option is to hit the power button!)

This morning I've had several situations occur where I lose the connection to the sim completely. Sim Ping goes to 10000. The mini-map goes red. User Ping stays normal. The sim isn't crashing because people on the mini-map are still there when I relog.

A couple of times it happened when I was copying things in inventory.

One time, it happened when I double-clicked on a script to edit it. It opened the script editor with a message inside saying "loading...". Never loaded and my sim connection died.

Relog is required.

Something is really not right.

Oh, and while I was typing this, I lost the connection to the sim again. The client was just sitting there. I wasn't doing anything at all.

Forgot to mention that I also freeze when I open my inventory window. I have about 8k of items, should it be causing me to freeze like this? I end up having to log out.

No, it shouldn't be causing you to freeze.

I'm basically dead in the water today. Unfortunately, I can't rule out a problem with my ISP, since I put in an order to upgrade my DSL to Extreme 6 yesterday. I don't think they've even started work on it, but I can't rule it out as the cause.

Everything but SL seems to be stable. e-mail, web-browser, etc.

I can't rez more than 3 things without losing the connection to the sim. I've tried 2 different sims now. My ping times are normal while I have a connection and my packet loss is slightly above normal, but not extreme. The longest I've been logged in is about 5 minutes without having to relog.

But since I don't see massive posts about it, I guess it's just something on my end.

I have about 10,000+ items myself, but I don't think that it makes me freeze. It definitley gets annoying having to wait for the inventory to load though. :)

I've probably got around 10,000 in my inventory, too. But I just tried it with an alt that has no inventory and I had the same problems. Also cleared my cache.

*sigh*

But, I love that Lebowski short version. :D

Well, maybe I fixed my problem... too soon to know for sure, but it seems better.

I deleted the cache files manually. Went to the cache directory and deleted everything inside.

So far, it seems much more stable.

EDIT:

NOPE. Lasted almost 10 minutes that time before the mini-map went red and I had to relog.

Does it sound like this?

http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/08/04/focus-pocus/

If so, it's already been fixed internally--stay tuned for 1.11.3.

Might be what the OP is seeing and I've certainly seen it. It's a pain and I'm glad it's getting fixed.

But it's definitely not what's causing my current problems. I've been able to work around the focus problems. You have to keep clicking, but eventually you can get the focus where you want it.

I'm just flat out losing my connection to SL. I'm seeing strangeness when editing and rezzing. jerkiness in drag editing and delay in rezzing, followed by a complete loss of connection to SL. All within about 5-10 minutes. with ping times in the 100-120ms range prior to collapse.

The "Focus" glitch that has been identified and fixed in the upcoming release is a very tiny part of what has been going on in SL. The sad fact is that SL has been running like crap since Saturday with a host of major issues! These issues include:

Extreme Lag,
Incredibly Long Rez Times,
Spontanrous disconnects,
Interface Lock-Ups ,
Can't Move After TPng Requiring Re-Log
Freeze Ups Requiring Relogging,
Freeze Ups From Search Window,
Rubber-Banding,
Flying Off of The World,
Can't Fly a Plane or Drive A Boat (without crashes at SIM lines) ,

/142/83/127494/1.html

These issues have also been noted by a host of other posts over the weekend.

SL has never run worse. It is very clear that something happened over the weekend that is messing up SL yet we hear nothing from LL. Do they know even know about it?
