Paypal billing broken?

I added my Paypal account, and tried a few times to buy L$ on Lindex, and got an error saying that I can't be billed.

I appear to be having the same trouble. It's worked for me in the past when buying lindens, but as of today it's been giving me the following error message "The system encountered an error while processing your credit card information, please try again."

This happened while trying to upgrade to a premium account, as well as while trying to buy lindens off the exchange today. I'm also using paypal.

I cancelled my card as a precaution due to recent security issues, and was going to buy L$ today using my Paypal account, and ran into a similar problem. I thought it might be because my CC information is needed even if I was using Paypal (?for some reason?), but I guess not. I wonder how many people are able to use Paypal right now...

Here's the exact message:

We are unable to complete your request.
• Failed to bill your account. Please double check your account's payment settings.
• The system encountered an error while processing your order, please try again.

I tried this myself today and talked to live help, they said its a known issue and to send a bug report and it will be fixed on monday.....big deal, so i cant buy anything this weekend when i usually play the game.......I dont know about you all, but SL is starting to tick me off.

This sucks. I've been really getting into this game recently and was looking forward to buying some L$ to have some more fun, and now even though the site says I can use Switch/Solo card...I cant? I emailed Linden Support and after 2 days got fobbed off with a "Its cos you have no funds" excuse, which is completely not true.

People are saying I should transfer money from my UK bank account to Paypal, but this takes 7-9 days! 0_o I have no interest in waiting that long just so i can buy L$. I guess I'm gonna have to try and hastle my parents into letting me use one of their credit cards again, which is damn annoying.

register at slx at buy your linden dollars through them they will let u use paypal and then all you do is withdraw the lindens to sl

Your not ther only one, i've been having the exact same problem.
It seems paypal dont support prepayment agreements over seas with a switch card even though the secondlife website says it does.
Its been bugging me for 4 months. Complaining doesnt work, asking the lindens doesnt work, protesting doesnt work. It seems a bit of a stupid over sight on the lindens part, seeing as how now they are promoting second life in the uk and not giving us enough payment options.

No conspiration theories necessary. Maybe it is just a simple security machanism at work.

When LL uses your Paypal account for the first time, a "Billing Agreement" is created with Linden Lab. Billing Agreements allow a company to request funds from your account without your involvement. This is risky. So Billing Agreements are limited. I don't know what the original limit is - 200 US$ I guess - but when you buy a lot of L$ you can easily run into this limit.

To raise the limit:

1. Open your Paypal account.
   
   
2. Select My Account then Profile
   
3. Then click on the link "Preapproved Payments" in the column "Financial Information". You will see a list of Billing Agreements.
   
4. Click on the first one called "Linden Research, Inc." This will lead you to a sreen, where you will see a button called Edit Monthly Maximum.
   
   
5. Just click on this button and raise this Monthly Maximum
   

Maybe you can buy L$ again.

And it still continues - same round of pointless misleading emails from Linden support on this matter as of 9 October. Really embarrassing standing in a SL shop, talking to creator, admiring their work, go to buy L$ from my UK Paypal funded account to purchase funky outfit, REJECTED! Come on Linden sort it out, please?
