Is it just me or is this becoming more down than it is up. This is getting worse on a daily basis. Have the Lindens bitten off more than they can chew? I think so. Lindens, by offering this game to the public, you have a responsibility to a usable product. At this point, it is barly a usable product. When it is "up" and "running", it runs like crap. Please abandon the voice thing, it has caused more problems than it is worth. Just make the game usable again. This has gotten horrible. The lag, disapearing undergound, flying uncontrolably, unable to TP, losing inventory items (paid for in real money, btw). And this is when its working,,lol. Is it possible for a Linden to make a statement on the blog or in the website somewhere telling us when its going to get better? With every update, something just goes horrible wrong and we are effected without any sort of compensation. I think with all the recent problems, there should be some sort of payment discount or a larger stipend or something. How about a response Lindens?

I think alot of the down time has come about because of the explosion at their server facility. It will take sometime before they get everything back up and running smoothly. Have patience and take some time to get some real life things done, or start another game for awhile. They will get over these problems, but it just might take some time.

Why should we have to wait for a usable product? They certainly don't wait for my money! I've lost a lot of inventory, paid with real money as well. It's way past time for Linden Labs to compensate for their failures. |

RL and SL happen simultaneously. I am stuck in a sim, but I am cleaning house in rl. Laundry pile is being diminished. Dishes are done. Patio is cleaned. Floors are vacuumed. What else....
I could make a nice lunch. Maybe go out in public and socialize? LOL Who are we kidding? Even before I came to SL, I always found that a horrible idea. |

Rocker it's all very nice saying it might take some time but a lot of people pay the lindens $300 a month for owning an island / land and I can't see the lindens saying "ooh it's OK don't pay us this month as we've been down 70% of the time - we'll wait for it" ! People are paying real money for this and it's bloody poor customer service to just expect people to sit around and wait and wait and wait and wait until they produce a product that works without adding on stupid extras to mess it up After all, what's the point of having a fancy cup holder if the BMW goes nowhere ? |

The Lindens should concentrate on making a usable product. As A Pemium Account Member why should I pay for a product, that is quite frankly substandard.
I Want to enjoy My SL time and at the moment I spend most of the time Crashing, and when I do get to new areas the Lag is so bad you hardly move. As for the items going missing from my Inventory, we won't even go there. Come on Lindens get your act together |

Its getting quite tiresome all the issues they are having lately. All this downtime and performance issues is hurting businesses in sl.. SL please fix this crap and stop giving us new features. I for one would rather have a nice WORKING game that has less bugs than current over getting new features.

Frankly, LL has serious problem with their network. No properly designed and installed network should fail every few days like LL one is doing.

... or ...
*Gasp* Stop spending RL money on Second Life! "The lag, disapearing undergound, flying uncontrolably, unable to TP, losing inventory items (paid for in real money, btw).", as one poster pointed out.. well, that stuff didn't just spring up within the last month. I remember sometime last year the TPs went down for a LONG time. The lag has been bad for a LONG time. The losing inventory items to the Database issue is pretty recent, it really started springing up about 6 months ago... but still, that was 6 months ago. We all knew it was happening. Quite a few of us (Myself included) were hit by it MORE THAN ONCE. People like you all make me feel as if I'm the only one in Second Life who takes the issues with a grain of salt and just continues to play and have fun. If this game is completely "unplayable" to you guys, and causing you to lose out on real life cash.. then don't play it. You guys keep making a huge hooblah about "Well we're losing out on RL CASH! We pay them RL CASH EVERY MONTH, WE WANT BETTER SERVICE." Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way.. but if I pay for a monthly service, and the quality and customer service is HORRIBLE, I'm not going to sit there and complain, and KEEP giving them money month after month. I'm gunna cancel my subscription, and bid them goodbye. Josh. |

Frankly, LL has serious problem with their network. No properly designed and installed network should fail every few days like LL one is doing. Key words, properly designed. Some of the systemic bugs I'm seeing in-world are obviously from poor design. Someone designs a new feature or piece of code, but they don't take into account of how it will react in more than a single given situation. I figure SL is written somewhere around the middle between the Rube Goldberg school of programming* and the paranoid freak never break school**. *Rube Goldberg school of programming - where 1000 lines of code are written when 5 will do. Usually occurs when the coder doesn't know the language, nor has any idea of what the language should be capable of doing. **paranoid freak never break school - the simplest quick and dirty application has to be considered in light of the rest of the system, even if it's a one shot need, because in truth there is no such thing as a one shot need. It will always be needed again. It doesn't really mean the code will never break, but when it does, a whole new paradym has to be developed to account for the situation, and the entire application has to be modified to fit into that design. I'm guessing SL has their paranoid freaks working on the havoc transfer while most of the rest of the coders are far closer to the rube goldberg school of programming. |

I have used Second Life on 4 different rigs, all with different specs for several years. I have never not been able to use it, not been able to log in, never lost inventory or lindens, none of the problem I see everyone always complaining about. This does not mean it's perfect, don't get me wrong... Esentially, the product has been "usable" to me and my coworkers from day one. Sure there have been buggy patches from time to time, but overall, SL has been a success in my mind. I'm honestly not trying to make you feel bad, or tout my success...I'm giving you (and others) the experience of another citizen. It's only fair to illustrate both sides of the coin. I just don't want people to see these kinds of posts, and think SL is a heaping pile of poop. A lot of people have had few problems, and have profited quite a bit from it. Again, I'm not discounting your issues and strife...I'm just saying you can't lay a blanket claim that SL is broken...because it's not. If I misunderstood you personally, or think I did...I apologize in advance. _____________________

You've got to be joking. You've never lost a SINGLE inventory item, and have ALWAYS been able to log in? Sometimes I have trouble logging in...but 99% of the time it's because the grid is down. lol Overall, I wouldn't ever say logging in has been an issue...no. And nope...I've never lost a single piece of inventory in over two years...none of my other designers or friends have to my knowledge either (how do I know? We talk about a lot of things to do with SL, and losing inventory would have come up). Either me and my compadres are extremely lucky, or you guys are unlucky. My point was, SL isn't broken, nor was it ever. Right now, it's going through some tough times...and just like past poopy patches, it will be resolved. I'm sorry people have to lose inventory and lindens over this...I do feel bad about that. _____________________

Good for you. This section is for technical issues... this is what it is for. You can post that you are happy but it won't change a thing for us. And people that comes to this section have to expect to read negativity. But I'm really happy for all the ones for whom SL works great. I wish I could be part of those. If all would be doing great for me, I'd surely be happy to post events that I try to make happening to my boxing club since about 2 weeks now... but it's just not possible since we can't even wear any damn attachment (like scripted gloves) 75% of the time... the list goes on but you know it all already. |
