I've heard of people getting SL to work with new graphics drivers. For example, on the ATI side of things, the newest Catalyst 7.3 drivers allow for OpenGL, and theoretically that should allow for SecondLife. (As of the time I am posting this, though, no 7.3 Catalyst Mobility Radeon drivers have been released for Vista 32/64, only non-mobility modes)

[EDIT]

I'm actually running Vista 64-bit and SL runs just fine for me. An Nvidia video card really is a must right now if you have Vista, and is just a good idea overall if you are into SL at all.

I second that for 32-bit. Vista, Nvidia and SL are compatible.

Working for me as well.. Vista Home Premium on my new PC I built last Friday. Using an Nvidia 7960 GT card with 512 MB Ram.. and with the latest drivers the game runs very smooth for me.

Well, not all of us can afford to put a new card in our brand new laptops. LOL I had to take what came in it.

So is there a way to run SL on my laptop without a new video card....Or no?

I hear this more and more about Vista. Either people had free upgrades or upgraded themselves. But really didnt we here the warning a few week after its realease and the problems? Ok some have it running some don`t. I talked to some gamers here in Japan and they say on other games Vista runs good, others forget it! Myselve after rebuilding this current system I had this option but i said not until Mircosoft continues to release vista Rah Rah views of this operation system Why would i leave XP pro for a OS that does not even support 1/3 of the correct releases of existing soft. No Thank you i continue to use XP pro until all the issues are done. I am Hoping for dec t upgrade. Not before.
