i'd bug report it, but as far as I can tell that's just one big black hole.

I did some very cursory testing on 1.7.2 which showed that adding a couple hundred physical, colliding objects had no effect (to 3 places) on the physicsl FPS upon an otherwise empty (didn't want to affect anyone's experience) sim.
I recall hearing from a commercial trucker - shortly after the advent of truck telemetry transmission to HQ - that some drivers wanted to drive faster than the prescribed corporate limits and so rigged their telemetry units to always report that they were running below the prescribed speed. In short they put a limiter on the speed gauge so that it never went above 105 km/h. According to this anecdote, it didn't take long for the folks at HQ to realize that it was impossible for a real truck to maintain a perfectly constant speed what with hills and traffic and such. I have no idea if this story is actually true. Regardless of the truth of the truck story, it does point out the human propensity to make the numbers look good even if they have to be faked to do so. Physicists and accountants are not above this, nor are many people depending on their particular circumstance. So, either the 1.7 developers are due some big pats on the backs for making physical objects have no measurable cost (without changing the physics library) or possibly some lessons in more creative fakery. _____________________

I happened to pop into the new FurNation sim of Tria just now and there is some strange stuff here going on. SIM FPS is at 152 and flucuates way over 45. My avie almost runs when I walk, the sim seems like it is on speed. Pic of Stats below.
UPDATE: Also experiecing the same thing on Democracy Island as well. _____________________

Funneh how things change in time. In 1.6, Resis would have gone
"OMG! My Sim FPS is 150 and someone else's is 500! THIS SUX!" "Hahaha LOLEX my Sim FPS is 150 compared to most sims with 45... I RULE!!! I RULE!!!" _____________________

...i experienced a sort of 'reverse-time-dilation' myself, very very late this evening, but it's the first time since 1.7.2 that i've seen that sort of accellerated effect in the 12+ hours that i've run the new client...
