Hello Grace, first things first: provided you already meet the System Requirements:

http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php

things were fine for you in Second Life 1.9.0? Can you please describe further, or post screenshots of what you're seeing?

You can always contact Support. :)

Torley,

Remember me? Thought you might. :)

I have the same problem. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X300, which is in the Radeon 9700 series (easily within SL requirements), and am getting the same problems with my avatar glowing.

Here's the deal. If I type in the Chat window (i.e., focus is outside the actual avatar window), my avatar turns neon yellow with neon green blobs on her. If I'm in the avatar window, my avatar changes colour as I move the mouse around. The further my camera focus is to my avatar, the better I can see detail, and more of the actual colour is shown. As I move focus away, the avatar loses all resolution and goes to bright yellow.

ADDED: I'm a bit off - my avatar only has colours other than yellow/green in a camera control view.

With other avatars, if the focus is close, I can see most details, but they appear neon. As focus gets further away, other avatars lose resolution completely and turn bright red.

ADDED: I was wrong; when you get close to another avie, the colour turns red, and the threshold seems to be 7m - further away than 7m the avies have neon yellow skin with neon green clothes.

Also when I go to Preferences, my actual video driver settings are not being seen by SL. I cannot change resolution - it is set to 600x800 in SL, although my actual resolution is far higher - and even though I can change the aspect ratio to 5:4 (my normal setting), if I close Preferences and then go back into it, the aspect ration is back to the lowest setting.

I have checked with the driver updates and my driver seems to be the most current - the date is 8/5/2005 (which also happens to be my birthday, and that of Napoleon).

I see no way that this issue is a video driver issue. Has anyone been able to duplicate it there within your lab?

Striker,

I have the same problem (see my other post), but my laptop is a Dell. I have the latest video driver release, as far as I can tell.

I cannot see how this issue is a video driver problem. If you have any other suggestions, they would be most welcome.

Neit,

Take a look at this thread:

Turn off avatar vertex and this issue may be resolved, let us know how it goes.
