Ya that helps me find out whats wrong with it. I've tried uninstalling and installing, restarting it, starting it so im logging into a differnt location but nothing works. I hit connect, it sits on login que for awhile then sends me back to login screen with this error "Unable to connect to second life-- Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. Please go to the support section of the secondlife.com website and report the problem. Iff possible include your secondlife.log file from "c:\documents and settings\<name>\Application data\Secondlife\logs Thank you" No thank you \sarcasm off
Anyways anyone know how to fix it?

Everyone is getting this right now. The problem is with LL, not you.

Yeah, well, they didn't repair the problem. It's still happening to many people, myself included.

sadly unable to login
03-20-2005 17:02
this is my problem exactly at as well.. been unable to login and have been attempting off and on for a couple of hours... although magically was able to earlier. Did the uninstall/reinstall thing, checked my bandwidth and even ran a traceroute on any packets going from me to Linden lab... the break down seems to be right at the entering Linden lab (data.agni.lindenlab.com) 100% packet loss!
OK whats wrong....
sigh

i just got that too. Lindens please perhaps change the message (if it's possible)to let us know if the problem is on SL's side. We'll try back later.

I was on earlier today, but now I can't get in. This has happened before, it is frustrating and I should think unneccesary. I agree, LL should change the message to let us know the fault lies with them.

Actually, please DON'T post technical requests to the Hotline. You'll be asked to contact Support, as the Hotline just doesn't allow the back-and-forth communication we need to handle any sort of technical problem. This message currently (as of 1.5.x) comes up in three circumstances: 1) You have invalid cache files interfering with login. Clear them out with these steps: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechFullReinstall2) You're trying to log in at an invalid location. Fix that with these steps: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechLoginLocation3) During a period of exceptionally high login activity, your login request timed out. (As a side note, much of this load is caused by people who force SL to quit because they think it crashed during login. This causes everyone to take longer.) Please wait a few minutes, then try to log in again. As always, Second Life does NOT LOCK UP during the login process. You should leave Second Life at the Login Queue until it goes back to the starting screen, or gives an error message. Even if Windows thinks SL isn't responding, that's okay, give us time and we should get you logged in. Our upcoming release for Second Life should speed this process up quite a bit, and eliminate most of this problem!

I deleted the cache files, reinstalled SL again, disabled Norton Security, and it works Thank you Lee Linden.
