I understand that SL doesn't like wireless routers, and over my time here I've kept track of all the do's and don'ts with my router, or at least am prepared for when I crash.
However, since the last update, simply logging in has become painful. If I'm on wireless, I can be sure my router itself will choke and reset, and even on DSL, login takes a good amount of time, and about 50% of the time I don't physically rez, leaving me with a floating bundle of attatchments for my AV.
Every time there's an update, another batch of client-server issues arises... maybe the next update can involve trying to streamline the way SL interacts with wireless?
And also help video card compatibility, since that's another huge issue, with SL just not working with certain cards even though said card has the power, on paper, to run it fine.

Your clothing is still downloading. You can use the world normally, and other users will see your correctly. then it is not just you. Apologies for this, it's been happening to me too and it is a problem we're aware of and do want to get fixed. Now, I am going to move your post to Technical Issues, the right place, where you can discuss further. Consider yourself lucky.
A typical login session for me consists of... Run SL, hit login button processes login, gets to precaching, stops just short of the end. Hangs. Wait a few minutes, hear the IM bell ring - people can see me in world Wait a little longer Give up and kill process Restart SL, hit login get the "sorry, you are currently logging in or out" message give up and reboot while I wait a few minutes start SL repeat 2 or 3 times, and FINALLY, I'll get the downloading your clothing bit. and 3 times out of 4, it then WON'T lock up and not allow me to press the OK button on that dialog. So, if you can get it but can't see your clothes, then I'm jealous! |

I've been experiencing the invisible avatar problem ever since the update. The only thing that fixes it for me is uninstalling/reinstalling SL. So, since Wed., I've uninstalled and reinstalled nearly everytime I've tried to log in.

Not sure if this works at all for missing av's but you could try selecting the edit menu and appearance.
