Regular crashes

Been having a problem with this for some time but its starting to bug the life out of me.

Got an NVidia Geforce 6600GT graphics card (drivers up-to-date) and 1gb RAM on my 3.0Ghz P4 PC and run SL fine if I'm in a quiet Sim without streaming audio. If, however, I go to a club or busy place, particularly with audio, SL becomes very unstable and often crashes without warning. This often happens when in camera mode.

I am able to run SL on a fairly low-end laptop with unsupported default graphics card and 512mb RAM with more stable results, albeit I'm unable to enter 'appearance mode' without losing all textures, so can't see why I can't get the same level of stability with the desktop PC.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Nonstop crashing for me, too ... thing is, I'm using the latest video drivers.

New version was the catalyst. Was working great last night when I was on -- installed the update today, couldn't even get in-game.

Uninstalled SL, defragmented and reinstalled ... restarted and launched - still crash.

This post helped me fix it: /111/7a/126473/1.html

My comments: Edit the existing keys.ini file and delete the look_at_chatter strings and the CONVERSATION area. Seems they've removed them from the code.

I'll give that a go thanks Shaun, although my crashes occur in-game rather than at start-up.
