SL Crash on Startup

I've downloaded the most recent update for SL, but for some reason whenever I try to start the program, I get the crash message. If someone could please explain to me how to fix this problem, I'd be very grateful! ^.^

Earlier I downloaded today's patch for SL and played it just fine.

Now when I try to run it, I also get the crash message, and whether I send a report of not, after that the game does not load.

The latest message from Josh Linden (/3/53/126488/1.html) says that logins were re-enabled.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

this turned out to be the keys file in my C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings folder. I edit this to change the keybinds to ones more to my liking. Because we need to install new versions every week or so, which replaces the keys file too, I saved a copy on my desktop to to slide into the folder after patching.

Today's patch sees something corrupted in the saved keys file from earlier patches. When I edited the 1.11 version keys file to my preferred key bindings, the error went away (rather than using the older keys file).

First you need to reinstall today's version of SL. To to this, DL it from http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php and install it. You don't necessarily need to uninstall your current verison of SL first but I did just to be on the safe side.

You will find the new verison is running error free.

Then to change your keys file, edit the 1.11 version and don't use a previous version.

Fixed for me as well. Easier fix:

My comments: Edit the existing keys.ini file and delete the look_at_chatter strings and the CONVERSATION area. Seems they've removed them from the code.

yeah that's better. Seems if you know how to fix the keys file then you can just fix it without reinstalling the game, but I didn't so to get an uncorrupted keys file I needed to reinstall.

There is no look_at_chatter strings. Please help me
