I'll be in SL for 5 minutes to 20 and poof SL crashes. This happens perhaps a few times in an hour. Then one time my PC will just restart. This did happen very occaisionally prior to the 1.15 - now it happens all the time. Is it my graphics card as some speculate? I have an old GeForce3. What can I do to fix? Thanks.

I'm getting the EXACT same issue since the last update, I've always had small problems like freezing/unfreezing and the monthly BSOD (spontainious restart for some) but it's gotten much worse since the last update.
Here's my thread, see if it matches your issue. /111/19/118098/1.html |

Mine is close, but i receive no error message. PC "looses" power and restarts. I turned down some of the graphics options and I have been crashing less often, so it seems to be related to the graphics card. I have an nvidia geforce 3, older than yours!

Yeah, that's because you have windows' default "Restart the computer instead of giving the BSOD" option on.
It's under Control Panel > System > Advanced > Start up and recovery: settings. Untick the box that says "Automaticly Restart". When XP came out, microsoft figured that they didnt want to unduely consern the public by having an opperating system that gave the dreaded 'blue screen of death' that was so common with win95/98. So they put in the option of having the computer restart before you had a chance to see the BSOD. It's the same thing tho, and turning off the auto-restart on BSOD option will let you see what type of error it was and what .dll it came from. If you feel okay with editing system options, go ahead and turn it off. You'll be able to see what driver sets it off. For me it's always the nvidia driver. |
