Working with Textures in Edit mode of object

Has anyone else been experiencing severe lag when they use the edit function of an object to work with textures? When I go into textures this way, it bogs down my entire inventory and I have to log out after working with just that one object and then log back in. SL says it is only me, but I really wonder if others are experiencing this as well.

Does this seem to happen on every texture you edit - or just the first one you edit after logging in to SL?

I've noticed for quite some time that when I first search my inventory after logging in - my PC will grind to a halt, and framerates will drop to near zero for 1-2 minutes.

Once its done with the search, I'm fine from there on out, until I relog.

If I'm not mistaken, when you open the texture picker, it performs an inventory search on textures. Possibly you're experiencing a similar inventory search issue?

Hi Travis,

Yeah, it searches through my entire inventory of over 50,000 items, even after I have stopped editing the texture and closed out the edit box. I can't normally wait 10 minutes for the search to be done and so I need to log out.

Yep - sounds like your issue is in the same vein as "Searching inventory grinds framerate to a halt on 1st Search".

This 'bug' has been around for at least 6 months, if not more - and its beyond frustrating. It always seems that I forget about it at the worst possible time, search my inventory.. and bam! I have to wait for a couple minutes before I can respond to any chat.

Here is a recent post on this similar subject:

And here is the long thread started about 6 months ago, on nearly the same thing (probably the most detail here):

I know these links wont help the issue one iota. Just meant to give you an idea of the pervasiveness of it.

The *only* workaround I know of, (which completely sucks) is to do an intentional inventory search when you first log into SL, before you get immersed in any buisness. Once you've completed a full search, you should be fine for the rest of your login session until you logout again.
