I never noticed this before today, so I'm thinking maybe it's a new memory leak or bug or something. When I search for something in inventory, it really, really kills frame, essentially bringing the game to a complete stop. Granted my inventory is very overdue for a cleaning, so it may be partially that. But I use the search feature at least once a day and I'm pretty sure I've never experienced this before 1.8.3.

I noticed that as well, before they started patching allow. I didn't have that problem. X_x This sucks a lot for me seeing as I have 6,500+ items and growing. |

I have had this problems since the patch after inventory searching was introduced. SL grinds to 1 fpt or less when I open and search my inventory window. But I'm used to SL's bad performance so when I search my inventory, I usually get up and get a sandwich or something.

But I'm used to SL's bad performance so when I search my inventory, I usually get up and get a sandwich or something. Is this only while actively searching? Does it clear up after a minute or so? This grinded mine to a halt and effectively crashed me, although it waited for me to actually close the window and I appeared to still be running ok, just very very very slow. And yes my inventory is in the neigborhood of 12000 and it never did this before yesterday. I've deleted a bunch from my inventory and haven't experienced it again, but I haven't tried either. _____________________

I have about 7,000 items in my inventory. But I get the same thing using one of my alts with the newbie inventory & about 10-20 items I've sent him from my main account. _____________________

I have about 10,000 objects in my inventory.
If it is the *first search* for that login session, it will grind my FPS down below 1. Chat or movement is impossible, for about 1-2 minutes. Once that's done, it seems to be fine until I logout & log back in again. I might do a few tests tonight to confirm this. _____________________

And is this new, Travis? Or did you ever notice this before?

Aaron, did you see my questions? I'm trying to determine if its the same exact problem. Yeah, but it wasn't your post I was referring to. I am having the same problem as you; it was Thili's post which offered nothing other than "nope, doesn't do that for me", which doesn't help anyone. _____________________

And is this new, Travis? Or did you ever notice this before? I can't pinpoint when I first noticed it, but my guess is that I've been experiencing it for at least the last 3-4 weeks. I just went through a few tests. Here's what I saw: -Logged into SL -Established a baseline FPS (13.5 FPS) -Opened Inventory - (FPS 13.5) -Searched Inventory for "Object" --------Fetched 8,814 Items (9.1 FPS) --------Fetched 9,651 Items (4.0 FPS) --------Fetched 9,789 Items (2.7 FPS) --------Fetched 9,953 Items (1.8 FPS) --------Fetched 10,468 Items (9.4 FPS) --------Fetched 10,468 Items (12.5 FPS) --------Fetched 10,468 Items (14.1 FPS) -Closed Inventory/Reopened (13.0 FPS) -Searched on "Object" - Note - no 'fetching now' (10.4 FPS) -Created new object, took into inventory -Searched on "Object " - Note - still no 'fetching' (10.5 FPS) -Logged out of Second Life/Logged back in -Opened Inventory (FPS 14.3) -Searched Inventory for "Object" ----------Fetched 8,214 Items (9.0 FPS) ----------Fetched 9,691 Items (4.0 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (2.3 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (1.1 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (0.9 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (6.7 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (9.1 FPS) ----------Fetched 10,469 Items (14.5 FPS) Oddly, I noticed that when it's 'Fetching' - it seems to jump to around 8,000 items nearly instantaneously.... but the last 2,469 items (up to 10,469) seem to take a minute or two. Possibly someone with less than 8,000 objects wouldn't experience this behavior?? So - My analysis: 1. It appears that the first inventory search you do after logging in will drop your FPS down to => 2.0 FPS. 2. Subsequent searches do not 'fetch' inventory, so no major FPS drop is noted. 3. Changes to inventory, like saving a new object do not cause it to begin fetching again. 4. Problem can be re-created by logging out & logging back in again. Hope this is useful! ![]() _____________________

Hehe - just did one more test: I did an open search in "Land For Sale".
I got nearly the same result- while it was actively searching, I watched my client FPS steadily drop to about 2.5 FPS. ![]() _____________________

If it's not one thing, it's ten or twenty things.
My inventory is going real slow now. _____________________

I am seeing a drop in frame rate when I do a search but not enough to affect the game significantly. My fps drops from 30 to about 18fps but then it shoots back up to 30, probably less than a second or two. I'm at almost 9,000 items. This basically the way it has been behaving for a while now.

Yeah, what I experienced is not just it slowing down and recovering, it's more like slowing down, then grinding to a halt, then almost crashing, the client sticking. And not recovering.
I have plenty of RAM - 1.5gb. _____________________
