Since there's loads of peeps with ATI cards having trouble I thought it'd be a good idea to get a thread going to find out if there's any correlation with the motherboard being used and the problems. So if you've got an ATI card could you post if you're having any problems with SL and what card it is and what motherboard/chipset you're using with it. Whether it's an Intel or AMD processor might be useful for quick reference too. Mine: Radeon 9700pro Gigbyte GA-8IHXP rev. 2.1 (Intel 850E/ICH4) No problems. EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, why just collect the card and chipset? Post as much useful info as you can!

Card: Radeon 9700 Pro Family board: AMD Athlon Processor, MSI K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v. 2.0) (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 3 DIMM, Audio)
My problem is that I can't stay on the game for more then two minutes ever since the latest patch. The game would freeze the computer completely, forcing the user to have to perform a hard restart. While I have AGP, it should be noted that I've never been able to use AGP features on Second Life, and that I haven't changed my computer at all that would cause this problem, because I didn't get anything new until after this problem started happening (The new thing being a wireless LAN card.)

ATI Radeon x850 XT AGP 256mb Gigabyte 8100PE w/Intel 865PE Intel 2.4ghz CPU, 1gb RAM
No problems with SL.
I also ran a ATI Radeon 9600pro 128mb for a while. I had lots of problems with it until I disabled Fastwrite in the advanced display settings. With the new card, Fastwrite is enabled again without any problems.

not to wander off subject too far but Nyctemanda Graff was the wlan card installed before all this started happening? does it crash on other intense 3d games/applications? i ask becuase it COULD be a conflict with something else on your mainboard a good example of this is my sound blaster live in slot 4 of my model of mainboard windows will crash when it starts the video driver every time, slot 6 works perfect so if you awnsered yes to one or both questions try putting the lan card in another slot, wouldnt hurt

THe issue had been resolved. It turns out that despite earlier beliefs, the freezing problems were oddly enough caused by the audio. By muting the audio completely it has kept the computer from completely locking up. I'm not sure why this works, but it does.

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB I believe my motherboard is an Intel D845PEBT2 with integrated audio and network card. Intel Pentium 4, 2.4 GHz processor.
No issues to speak of, though since this last update my frame rate seems to suffer more often than it use to.

ATI X800 All-In-Wonder 256 Mb - driver 8.162.0.0 (8/3/2005) Asus P4S800D-E Delux Mobo - SIS 655TX / SIS964 chipsets Intel P-IV 3.2GHz/800Mhz, 1 Gb ram (2x dual channel DIMS) Zalman water tower cooling for the CPU and video card (for quiet more than anything) Audigy soundcard 8 x harddisks (5 EIDE + 3 SATA) 1.5 TB... (Store loads of TV recorded on the ReplayTVs) 2 x 400W power suplies (2 x coolmax CU-400T) ...6 drives, fans and video card on one and the mobo, boot disk and DVD drives on the other. (Again, for quiet - fans stay slow with low loading) Cooler Master Stacker case to hold all that stuff (has dual power supply bays, etc.)... Optimum/Cablevision Cablemodem Linksys router shared with 2 ReplayTV boxes so it's prety much dedicated to the PC unless I'm uploading video from them or they are updating thier tv guide listings from the net (a minute or so every few days).
I gave up on SL for a month or two because it went from rock stable to awefull. Could barely interact with any scripted objects (but I heard that was prety much everyone so...).
Then a few weeks ago, a release came out that made it almost back to the free and easy playing it was before so I started logging back on a lot more again and working on various projects/builds. Still having movement issues when textures are loading after teleports, etc... kind of get stuck untill the bandwidth drops and then I can move. LOTS more packet drops in the last week or so than I've ever seen before.
Just since the last few days, I have been getting strange lockups. SL freezes. I can't do anything but pan around and look at stuff near my av. I can't move and I can't see what I'm typing but others can see what I say. I have to relog to 'clear' that type of freeze (an hour or two between relogs).
Other than that, I've been OK. I almost never crash to desktop (had that issue with the older ATI 9700 A-I-W card (I gave that to Mom when I got the X800...)

ASUS a7V8X-E Deluxe (NVidia Nforce 2 Ultra 400) Sapphire Radeon 9800 Latest Omega Drivers WinXP SP2
This combo has been stable. For a while (e.g.: over a year), Catalyst 4.5 was the latest version of the drivers that didn't crash randomly and frequently with SecondLife on my hardware. Testing the waters again recently, I was pleased to find the latest Omega Drivers to be every bit as stable as Cat4.5, and a bit faster, too!
