Hi, Firstly I appologise if this prolem is posted in the wrong place. I have seached through the forum and support section of the SL site but cannot find a solution. Basically im logging in and getting the message 'Your clothing is still downloading. You can use the world normally and other users will see you correctly.' I have had this message a few times in the past and after a while my clothes have downloaded and SL has run fine. My problem is that for the last 3 days im getting that message but my clothes do not download (I tried leaving it for an hour on one occasion). Also I can see no land, I can't IM, I can't TP and my L$ are not showing. Basically I can't do anything. I have tryed relogging loads of times but each time its the same. I was able to get on earlier today, but crashed after a couple of hours. When I went to relog the same problem happened again. The bandwidth and packet loss levels in the top righthand corner are both black and reading nothing. Its like im freezing in world or something. Hope someone can help me because im pulling my hair out!! Thanks, Ian (Wiu Bing)

Have you changed your ISP or firewall or anything like that lately?

No I haven't changed my ISP or firewall. I even lowered the level of my firewall, but it made no difference. I have been using SL for about 2 months now and it has always run fine until 3 days ago.

I just checked my packets lost are:- 1/555 (0.2%) The pacet loss level (in the top right hand corner) is not red at all from when I login. I can breifly get the chat from what people around me say, but I can't chat to them. Sometimes I get a message saying 'Unable to load gesture. Please try again.' and then nothing.

The Lindens can't do anything about it because it's a privately owned area. Try changing where you log in when you first open Second Life, it'll get you out of the area that's making it do that for you. The same thing worked for me.

I found the cause of my problems. Basically it is F.U.P (Fair usage policy) on Tiscali Broadband (UK ISP). From what ive read on Tiscali's forum loads of online gamers have been effected by this. So much for unlimited downloads!! Basically I can't access SL during peak hours (6pm - 11pm). I am changing my ISP!!!
Thanks for the help though.

Happens to me often, I just rebake. Give that a try before you mess with your firewall and see if it helps at all.

Make sure you manage your bandwidth throttle with SecondLife.
I use DU Meter to monitor mine very closely. Once I load an area, I throttle my bandwidth down to the lowest SL will allow. This puts a cap of 10-15k/sec on your connection.
When set to default (768+) you're streaming at anywhere from 150-650k/sec in SecondLife.
If you play SL for say, 5 hours at default rate, you're looking at 700mb or higher of downloaded cache.
So, let's recap. Your ISP says your using too much bandwidth, well; most likely your cap is around 60 to 100gb a month. In the UK I would say 60gb or less. With an average download of 1+gigs a day of streamed cache, not to mention any P2P you do; you're easily going to hit that limit.
Then your ISP caps your connection and spams you with emails regarding 'safe browsing' and all that junk.
