My g/f's account seems to be suffered monumental accounts of packet loss. Yet, when I log on from the same pc, at roughly the same time of day, I get absolutely not packet loss at all. Why would this be and what can I do about it?

Second Life has more than one data center now; both sims and database are now partitioned between them. If the path between ONE of the data centers and your ISP has problems (say, if your inventory is stored on the good server, and hers on the bad one), it might account for the difference.

I have had these problems for several weeks now....SL help hasn't helped at all....just blamed me and my connections. ISP has run trace tests and determined that it is NOT my connections. Somewhere in SL, there is a big problem. It may not affect many users, but is has destroyed this game for me. Good luck......I sincerely hope they can help you!

I have been experiencing packet loss upto 500% LOL.... thats impossible... its when the sim ping suddenly jumps upto over 10,000msecs.. I know that it HAS to be SL... timedialations drop to below 40% I grab a parachute and bail out of the sim.

The sim I'm on seems to have a nearly constant solid red bar for packet loss... I'm thinking it's the new club on the sim, using WAY too many lights and fancy crap that ruins a club in the first place. Unfortunately some sims have stricter rules about this than others (which is why I'm moving).
I don't know much about the correlation of packet loss and lag, if they're the same thing or not, but it has been worse lately for sure, in some sims. Frustrating when trying to do anything.

I have been getting unbelievable packet loss today, far more than I have ever encountered before. I always have a problem with it during the UK evening, but this started at lunchtime. It took about 6 attempts before I could see my linden balance (this was happening to others, too) and my packet loss has just hit an all-time high of 580%!!!
Needless to say I can do practically nothing except stand stock still and admire the (grey) view.

Well, forgot what I said earlier about an all-time high of 580%. I have now hit 870%. This is 7 times the highest I've ever encountered before, so something isn't right here.

huge packet loss and stuck teleports
04-06-2007 11:42
seems i'me not the only one then lol yesterday ran smooth as anything which is new for linden
today MASSIVE packet losses 300%+ constant redline everywhere
most places do not rezz right missing half the area or bits missing
movments are not walking more like sliding
cannot teleport to more then one place else it crashes and you cannot move anywhere
silence in most areas no audio
i've logged in second life over the last hour 25+ times due to crashes or being stuck
i've checked my side for errors nothing 10meg straight through no hassles ISP report nothing wrong also no supprise supplier
so yet again linden fails
if your having issues can you tell us about it as so far thers no reports of problems but is seems this list grows

10 hours later after logging in, issue still exists, guess nothing wrong with the servers like usual or we`re all suffering from post sleep syndrone and are imagining red bars

guess a ty is in order as there`s still no blog up, but damn the timeframe...

I started getting this Friday evening, was gone most of Saturday, but today I can't stay on for 15 minutes straight even if I'm just standing doing nothing 650m up in my skybox. I'm just waiting at this point to see how long before the Lindens realize it's on their end.... So much for getting a lot of design work done today...

that explains at least why some places are really freezing
04-24-2007 11:19

If the path between ONE of the data centers and your ISP has problems (say, if your inventory is stored on the good server, and hers on the bad one), it might account for the difference. Some places/sims I cannot stay for a minute before it freezes to dead by high packet loss and removed circuits. But I hardly use my inventurery then
