Esteemed Mr. Galsworthy,
Regarding your own post located elsewhere in this very forum you may find you will recieve more immediate guidance from other Residents in other forums, for instance Scripting Tips or Technical Issue. This is obviously an issue of great importance to you and per the top thread in this forum: Support Requests and Technical Help Please note that this forum should not be used for questions regarding individual accounts, problems or bug reports. These posts will be removed. We will also be actively removing any duplicate threads to avoid confusion. If you have a specific technical support question (e.g., problems logging in or client crashes), please contact support@secondlife.com or call 800/860-6990 during business hours (M-F, 8AM-6PM Pacific). Any support requests that are posted here will be passed on to the support group, and then archived to help reduce the signal to noise ratio in the overall forum. You can also post in the Technical Issues Forum. As to the meat of your actual inquiry: I receive email from numerous objects on a daily basis and I have noticed no issues with delivery to my gmail account. Additionally, many commercial endeavors rely on llEmail working correctly, and commerce gridwide would be seriously effected. However, a search of the forums reveals no great outcry. If you are waiting for emails to yourself from an object in-world, check your Spam folder/filters or contact your email provider. If it's email being delievered to an automated system such as a perl or php script, double check your configuration or contact your hosting provider. If you have shell access, try tracerouting to the sim your object is located in (visible in the Help > About menu) and/or pinging it from your host. I hope these tips assist you in a speedy resolution to your dilemma! Your ever humble servant, Kristian Ming P.S. Attn: Ms Torley Linden. Feel free to combine our posts and move us to the Technical Issues forum if you are so inclinded. _____________________

Wow that was classy. Thanks for the help, Kristian... hope things are better for you, Mordecai.
Moving this shortly--I've not heard other problems myself here. Will be watching. _____________________

I haven't had any problems during the period Mordecai mentioned.
There may be routing trouble between LL and wherever your emails are going. That happened last November for a whole month between LL and DreamHost, due to some faulty rules on one or more of DH's routers. If you're able, try using llHTTPRequest instead and see if that works. _____________________

just to note, I appear to have lost all llEmail functionality, however inbound emails to objects from the outside world are still working for me.
Thanks Apple |

None of the Club 69 Status orbs have checked in since just before midnight on the 4th... They are all programmed to send a status email to our unix server once every 24 hours.
The server prim ALSO hasnt checked in recently, and aparently isnt recieving control E-Mails from us (Since it isnt reacting to commands sent by our unix server) He's right ... external E-Mail has been down for a couple of days aparently. E-Mail betwen in-game objects however seems to be working as our orb server IS managing to reach the in-game orbs (Telling them it dosent know who the on-air DJ is) EDIT 1:15am PDT: Found out why llEmails weren't comming IN to our system and fixed that, but still no idea why outbound from our server aren't reaching their destination. EDIT: 1:25am PDT: Our Orb server in-game suddenly started responding to commands... As a guess I'd say that on an inbound mail the LLLABS mail server tries to open a reverse connect to verify the originating address... which is a common anti-spam procedure... since our mail reciever software was stuck it didnt respond. I'd say that feature probbably is unnecessary when mails are addressed to object keys. |
