mhm you can add me to this to, random times tho entire SL just "stop" ...... wich is where i usually spam ESC cause i think SL lost focus again, and it usually comes back, pondering if this has something to do with VBO settings, could try it without to see.

It definatly uses more ram, one sim for me right now eat about 970mb ram.

Count me in. All since last update. Not PC-related. Other graphic intensive games works perfectly. Newest client didn't make any difference. Please do something!!!

Oh .. Oh!! Yes - Me too .. This exact same thing!

New computer, perfect before last 2 releases - Second Life now regularly reports it is ";(Not Responding)" .. On one occasion, I was forced to kill it completely, as it became non-reponsive and stayed that way for .. like .. 2-3 minutes.

I'm also noticing some other oddities to do with network utilisation and latency, but I'm still investigating that one, as it may be an issue with my ISP.

Geoff.

I read something somewhere about a change in this release could cause traffic on other port(s). Or maybe it was just a dream, not sure ;) Anyone feel like checking their hardware firewall logs? (I'm at work).

Found it, not exactly describing our problem but look at the red text:

Unusually restrictive firewalls block teleporting

If your firewall is blocking outbound TCP port 12043, teleporting, viewing the World Map, crossing regions, and related activities won't work. This is because in Second Life 1.13.2, we've enabled Capabilities, which require outbound traffic to communicate with our servers.

So far, we've found this is a very rare occurrence, involving unusually restrictive firewalls, and will not affect the majority of Residents. So chances are this does not apply to you, but in the event it does:

To resolve this issue, what you need to do is allow traffic on outbound TCP port 12043. For more info on firewalls, see "How do I configure my firewall?" and for specific instructions not covered here, consult your firewall's manual.

Further technical details about Capabilities, also known as "Sim-Caps", can be found in the "A big change you'll barely notice" blog post by Zero Linden.

*sigh*

And another one. Spent 3 days trying to eliminate possible causes at my end before I read this. I don't think it's the firewall issue.

Pc freezing up again after update!!:
01-31-2007 19:22
This was not a firewall problem...and oddly enough, somehow SL straightened it out for the last 4 days...until the update of course!!!
The EXACT same problem has started occuring again, immediately upon connecting after the new update!!
What ever you did to fix it last time SL..PLEASE REPEAT THE PROCESS!! I can't even talk in open chat for 2 consecutive sentences...much less function as a club hostess and promoter for our music stage!!
The hang-ups occur about every 20 seconds and last about that long as well!
Please help!! It is definately "server-side"! Nothing i did helped...u had me do a couple of non-required updates during this occurance...could u send them again??

Thank you,
Moon

Count me in, AGAIN!

Last time I think they restarted all servers to solve it. These updates are too frequent. Give us some time to actually use the game without being interrupted.

Me too....

I and many others have been experiencing this problem. I've only been on Second Life now for about three months and I have run into this problem twice. (This being the second time) Last time this issue was solved for me was when a new update was deployed. Interestingly it seems everyone reporting the freezing is running Windows XP...i think. Maybe there is a bug in the Windows version. Perhaps when the servers were running slowly for the website it damaged my installer. A Linden stated on the blog that a corrupted version of First Look was presented on the website. (I think it had something to do with recognizing graphics cards incorrectly.) I'm going to fill out a bug report.

Hmm a frezz up huh, yeah I have noticed this problem some myself. But for it don't seem that bad. I have a second to where this happens but things start running again.

Here's a tip: (click) ctrl-alt-d that will open a new section above of your file menu.
I found turning off Clouds and fog help free up your person's movements.

Yes I have also noticed the new system's change man. We can now go upto 1000 Ram if we so want too. But I choose 500ram yet and my system is okay with this.

Interesting subject I'm thinking here.

I'm having this problem as well. For now, I've switched to the First Look Viewer which doesn't freeze for me, but it's a pain to get started sometimes - if it crashes out as soon as it loads you need to clear your cache.

Game freezes for 1 to 30 secs every 2 mins. Is that what you experienced? Don't think so. Same after last update. Turning of clouds, turning off all graphics doesn't help. Sorry! Lucky you!

Add me into this one.
ONLY since the update.
It is not client side.

And all they can say is "Clear your cache and relog"

Typical.

Ty for joining honey!

I do understand people think we're nuts because it works for them, but this is a real problem for some, or quite a few! If it worked before update, how can you think it's our PC's suddenly? So to everyone posting here without having these problems, don't post, ty! Go enjoy your game instead.

*SIGH* Another compter wizard. Please explain to me how my computer changed hardware or installed new drivers after the update without me knowing it?
