Hi there,
Ever since the upgrade last week, my pc has suddenly been freezing up and I have to reboot.
I run a Radeon 9600 card and an AMD Athlone 64 bit machine, I doubt it is hardware related....can anyone help??
Oh, i did uninstall and reinstall SL a few times now, still no change
helpppppppppppppppppppppppp

I've had a similar experience. Earlier in the week it froze on me five times in one day.
I also have a Radeon 9600, and an Athlon XP 2700+, with 1.5GB of RAM.

does it lock up ONLY in SL ? if not its probally a heat problem or voltage problem altho given SL's history of acting funky with ATI cards i doubt it is a hardware problem either

Osgeld yes it is only in SL, the rest of the time it is perfect and even SL was perfect until the new up(down)grade Narine, i will try that, thank you! Failing any of this I will be spending R100.00 to call SL Tech Support in the US tonight because I am tearing my hair out Mep

Hmm. I am using a Radeon 9800 XT. I was using an ECS motherboard before, and an AMD Athlon XP 2000+. No problems. I upgraded to an ASRock motherboard, and an AMD Athlon 64 3700+, sometime in the past week. I had some crashing issues in SL (I hadn't tried any other 3D applications).
What fixed it for me was I went into my BIOS and changed AGP from 8X to 4X. I still have better performance than I did with my older processor. (I also have a new power supply, coincidentally.)
I've read a *lot* of forum posts (elsewhere around the internet) about Radeon 9800 problems, and either raising the AGP core voltage slightly or setting it to 4X fixing it for some people. Perhaps it applies to the Radeon 9600 as well.
I know a problem like that shouldn't be caused by a Second Life update, but.. maybe it's worth a try?

Alright i finally found a solution......
I went and reinstalled every download i had of SL which dated back to June and worked my way forward to the recent one and it stabilised the game totally for me.....
Lindens, you may have something missing in the new download
