After the update, I was unable to load any textures, the lag was so bad I couldn't move and the game kept crashing. Right before the update SL was running perfect. Well, after a few days of greif I thought I would try and see if my mcafee software might be causing the problem. Well.. when I uninstalled it, SL ran perfect again. If your having this problem too, check your anti-virus software.

Compare to Norton

I'm using Norton Internet Security, and each time I load a new version of SL client, it asks if it is okay for this program to connect online. Other protection software may treat the install as an attempt to download and run malicious software. So you may have to explicity tell your protection software it is okay, allow certain ports, etc.

From: Danielle Eber I'm using Norton Internet Security, and each time I load a new version of SL client, it asks if it is okay for this program to connect online. Other protection software may treat the install as an attempt to download and run malicious software. So you may have to explicity tell your protection software it is okay, allow certain ports, etc. If you have problems running SL, or with it's speed, the very first thing you should do is check for and stop other programs that are running at the same time. Each program you run takes resources like processor speed away from the computer. Many programs access the internet in the background also taking bandwidth away. Windows is particularly bad for this with the dozens of crappy little do-dads running inthe system tray which together can bring the system to a crawl. You are better off to use a Mac which basicaly needs no virus or spyware protection. Programs like Norton and McCafee both by definition, interfere with, and slow down the running of every other program on your computer 24/7.
