Ever since update the water around our islands has become paler a whiter shade of pale:) No kidding! It used to be a nice rich blue and now looks like 100 sperm whale have gone into a mating frenzy....has anyone noticed this besides us? Is there a cure besides chasing off the whales?

From what I've seen, the water appears a bit 'oily'. Noticed some changes during one of the mid 1.8 updates too.

it seems to better reflect the color of the sky to mean, trying moving the sun around and have a look for yourself. It think it actually looks more realistic, other than shallow tropics, the ocean is seldom a bright blue, usually more... well, grey.

I think I recall mention of some Linden saying somewhere on the forum that they were working on a new update to the water to give it better reflectivity in realtion to the world. I thought it would, well, actually reflect stuff like mirror, but maybe they just meant the sky's color, perhaps this is the change.

HAHAAH that's too much! What a vivid description, that instantly communicated it into my head! Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Use FORCE SUN ---> NOON and sky is more of a gray-blue than azure or rich, well, navier blue in previous releases. It appears strikingly different to me in 1.9 than before.

I like the previous shade, as "unrealistic" as it is. Because we can fly here. I just wish knew how to hack the colors myself so I could make it alternating pink and green. ;)

There'll be more changes to Ripple Water, I know for a fact Runitai is on an amazing quest of continuing to improve it:

Over exposed film look with no visible ripples sounds like your graphics card driver mangled the shader somehow. Indeed, the water should now be darker than it used to be in almost every lighting situation. The shaders are currently being ported to a new shading language that's built into OpenGL (GLSL). This should minimize the compatibility problems we've been seeing, particularly on newer ATI cards.

I think it would be cooler if the land were to be reflected in the surface of the water.
