I just found that when i sit on objects on my group land, I never sit on the objects but somewhere on the side and above the objects. Is this a known issue? new bug?

It appears to be a bug. Or they have changed the way llSitTarget() works, without telling anyone.

What is really strange, is i see myself sitting on the prim off to the side, or on top, or off in another direction. Anyone with me sees me sitting on the prim correctly.

Sit bug
11-21-2005 19:26
I have been told this has been happening every since the 1.7 update. Only sporadically.
Now It seems it is more widespread and its effecting everything. I am very disappointed that this has not been fixed. I guess transparent textures are more important than being able to sit properly *shrugs* |

I am seeing this problem , with just a simple default cube. Sitting on it I appear to be a meter away from it. Moving the box with the mouse causes the av to assume the correction postion.

what is more intriguing at least to me is that this seems to be a client side issue

Just before today's update, every time I sat on a teleport prim, the prim vanishes (but does not die) and it only reappears sporadically. (I know I'm porting about 200-250m up; maybe the distance is aggrevating it?)

Not that it helps but if you change groups it seems to fix it for now.

Ive had this prob since 1.7 also, but since yesterdays patch its ALL the time, I have done bug reports and given up trying to make, use or place poseballs for now.
Yes it does seem to be client side, I and 3 other people sat on 4 poseballs on a bench, all were correctly placed before 1.7, and the snapshots then taken by these 4 people all showed us in different places, only one person had a correct shot |

Most cannot get a decent rotation to put it in a ball or link it to an object. |

This happens to me, and it seems to be random. I could be on the cube, diagonal, or completely off it, like a meter away in the air.

It does appear to be client side.. all of my helicopers are ruined on my end - but when I ask someone else to sit they say it is fine for them (but I see them way off somewhere else)

it's a viewer bug, changing your set group will refresh the draw and auto correct it.....
yeah still a bug but at least this is a quick fix... Also works for those invis AVs where all you see is floating attachments... just change your active group... _____________________

I have noticed this problem as well. I suspect it has something to do with the way that animations and poses are priortized for streaming.
A friend of mine was inspecting her stores - rapidly teleporting from one store to the next. She messaged me saying that all of her furniture was broken, none of the sits were working. Then she told me she found a store where they were working ... same furniture (script and pose) ... just a different location. She teleported me in, and just as I was arriving she sat down in one of the "working chairs" and said, "see, they work here." Problem is, for me, she was sitting 10 feet away from the chair, and upside down. I suspected the pose just hadn't streamed to me yet, but had already streamed to her. I asked her to get up and try again. It worked. So we teleported back to her house. Same problem. But one minute later, the poses worked. Since it can now take forever for some textures to download, and some never do, I can imagine the same kind of thing happening for poses and animations. When I teleport into a club, it takes forever to see people dancing. Much, much longer than ever before. And lots of people complain about freezing (even though we see them moving) and vice versa. I don't think any of my rambling here has helped you, but maybe it sheds a bit more light on the problem. _____________________

Fix: Sit on the object...go into edit and move it slightly. The av will move into the correct position and all is right with the SL world!

Not too sure about the not streaming the animation thing, the bug is still present if you go sit on a wall or other object which does not even have a script+anim inside, you still sit miles away from the right place in mid air

Actually I just came to forum to ask if it was just me... and I'm delighted to see that it ISN'T just me having the problem. Cause that means the lindens have to deal with it.
Its really frustrating Now I haven't been able to test if the group thing does the trick, of course my av sits correctly just when I want her not too. Murphys law. The other solution. The edit one, sounds to me as a bad way of solving the problem cause that won't help if the object you're trying to sit on isn't yours. lol I sure hope they will fix this.. its a little annoying to sit on the table or in the air, when all you want is sit next to your partner on a couch!?!?! hehe EDIT: oh well now I had the chance to try the group thing. And yes that does seem to work out. But will it look right to others than myself? |
