I keep getting "Despite our best efforts, Something unexpected has gone wrong" when I try to log in.

XP SP2, P4, 1.5GB ram, Geforce 6600LE

Neither the FirstLook viewer or the main viewer will log in every time.

I have not tryed the beta grid.

I got this message too. Normal and first look doesn't work, but beta is ok.

In one of about 20 tries i can log in. but otherwise i get this boring message. Is there a problem with the login service?

The beta client tells that my U/P are invalid.
So I specified "-loginuri https://login.agni.lindenlab.com/cgi-bin/login.cgi" on the commandline and we sit and wait like before.

It would be interesting to confirm whether the accounts affected are just basic or if it includes premium.

It's affecting premium users too. I am unable to login for the past several hours...very unhappy. Would someone please *inworld* say "hello" to Morgan Wuyts for me? We were supposed to meet today but I am, unwillingly, unable to be there until SL will let me log in. Hopefully, he is not experiencing the same service!

It will be interesting to see if tomorrow's 'maintenance' improves the lag/packet loss/login issues.

Now I was finally able to log in. Hope that I don't crash. I submitted a bug report. Hope that this helps.

Seems to be something to do with the internet connection, I been able to login fine from Australia for the last few days, logging in and out a few times per hour, even having 2 chars online at once, at the worst some slow loading of clothes & textures when numbers were over 30k

Apparently a couple of people removed an xfire update and got on ok afterwards too.

The can't logins compared to cans must share something in common?

I run standard viewer, XP, 20Mb ADSL, Dual Core Intel, 1Gb.

Some ISP's limit connection speeds when usage is high too to handle the number of users online, because face it they aren't going to kick 10,000 users off are they. And who's going to notice 10-20% running anything other than SL?

I used to have some login issues on dialup and when I hit my monthly download limit.

I was lucky to be logged in and spent the evening in sl. No crash, no lag, no problem.

Now I quit. Because I'm curious, I tried to relog in. I got the error message again. Could not connect ...

There seems to be a serious problem with the login service. I'm wondering why there is no entry in the sl blog or the status message on the web site. Hope the Lindens will notice soon, that something is going wrong here.

I'm no Linden Labs excuser by any stretch of the imagination but I have to call it like it is even if it comes across as defending LL. :) I just read this thread a few minutes ago but around the time most here were reporting problems logging in I managed to log in myselft. It took me about 4 attempts before I figured that a reboot of my computer was in order.........did that and logged in fine. A little longer than normal and it took nearly 5 minutes for everything to rezz and my inventory to become available...........but there were 35,000 concurrent users on at the time too.

I know most users are on XP machines. And Windows has long been known for it's failure to release RAM. I had been reading these forums, emailing, and generally browsing the internet. I also had downloaded a few pictures from my digital camera and viewed them before putting in their respective files. You have to remember, Windows has that problem (always has, though it is getting better). Sometimes a simple reboot solves a lot of problems. :)

I'm a Mac user from Japan. PowerMac G5 1.8GHz/GeForce6800 Ultra. I've used this for 2 years. And I got the same message. Rebooting mac and router didn't work at all. Sometimes I could login, but suddenly I became not to move at all. Then I tried to re-log. That message appeard and I was rejected to log in. :( The standard and the first look are same.
Yeah, I can login Beta.

Reboot doesn't help. Since some logins works, it may be by accident that you are able to log in after a reboot. i thought that reconnecting to the net (getting a new ip) may help, but this don't work every time.

I'm glad, that linux and mac user have the same problem :-) So it should not be any Windows update, what caused the problem ....

Two systems at home in Holland (the Netherlands here) and two premium accounts.

An AMD 3200+ 1Gb RAM with nVidia GF 5700 256 Mb and XP Home SP2. And an AMD 3500+ 1Gb RAM with nVidia GF 7500 512 Mb and XP Home SP2. Both on the same cable connection of 7Mbps.
Never had any problem on login with both before.

The day before yesterday hard to log in now and then. Yesterday morning (08.00 GMT) no problem on both the computers.
Yesterday afternoon (17.00 GMT) no connection possible on both the systems for hours. Clearing the cache or rebooting didn't make any difference. Finaly when we did manage to connect both the systems, we couldn't teleport anywhere.
Lots of friends from Holland were unable to connect also. Everytime the message "something unexpected.....". Very frustrating.

And nothing on the Blog. Think that's my biggest issue. Linden guys, i'm paying for two accounts, maybe you can at least put a message up there for the money you receive?

I don't remember it being this bad before. I've been blocked for over seven hours now. And not a word from the Lindens.

try connecting and leave sl dont press nor touch anything else on your computer , sl needs tender and care and compassion, wait for the sl gnomes to work and they will dont fuss nor hinder them and you shall get in....

Thanks but 10-20 secs after I try and log in I get the "Something Unexpected" error message.
No ammount of chilled patience will get me logged on after that has popped up.
