Texture permissions vs. Prim permissions...

I have a n00b question regarding texture permissions. If I have a texture with no transfer or no copy/no mod, when I apply it to a prim face, is the prim suppose to inherit the same permissions? Or am I allowed to do what I want with that prim?

When you apply a restricted-perms texture to a prim, the texture is placed inside the prim's inventory/contents. The object (the prim + its inventory) then have "folded" permissions, the most restrictive in the object, which in this case is the texture.

Removing the texture from the prim's inventory also removes it from any faces it was applied to.

This prevents folks from easily getting around the permissions restrictions.

How do you remove the texture from the prim's inventory? When you apply a texture to a face, you can't actually see it listed in the inventory, right? Or is it a "hidden" item in the inventory? If so, how do you make it visible?

How can you set the permissions on a texture except in your own inventory? And yet we are told not to set permissions on inventory items because there is a bug...(I started a thread about permisisons issues here /111/9a/145369/1.html though it is not directly related to the issue of setting the permissions on textures)

Thanks, Jillian.

Oddly, I am able to drop no transfer textures onto a full permission prim face and still distribute it to another avatar. I also seem to do the same with a no copy/no mod texture and make copies of the prim as well. I reported to the bug team, but I was not sure if it was a bug.

I tried applying a no-transfer texture to a box prim. The prim shouted something for every surface it had, apparently (six times).. but didn't end up with the texture in its inventory. I took the prim, and its properties still showed it as being copy/mod/transfer for me.

I bug-reported that. About the shouting, mostly (besides the unsureness whether should it end up transfer or no transfer.)
