I have been searching through the forums for about an hour.. and I cant seem to find a guide or any information on where to start when making textures for Eyes. Really sorry if there are some threads already.. but if anyone can suggest where to look I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks! ![]() |

The tempates and introductory guides can be found at http://secondlife.com/downloads/templates.php. There are some user generated guides and tutorials out there that are thought to be more useful for clothing, but I've not seen anything about eyes (which doesn't mean it isn't there).

If you use Photoshop, the noise, radial blur, glass distortion, and wave filters can generate nice iris texture when used together. I layer my eye textures with the veins, iris, pupil, and reflection spots on independent transparent 1024x1024 layers that I reduce to 256x256 before saving to a TGA file. I let the "eyewhite.tga" file in the character folder of the SL client handle the rest of the eye detail. I happen to think the Lindens thought that particular texture out very nicely for a 128x128 texture. The amount of detail (veins aside) that transmits to the avatar is mostly subtle gradient information that a lower resolution handles very well.
