that shows me how to make the clothing using textures. I may have just overlooked it because I dont know the proper terminology for it. I want to know what type of file to use to create the clothing and so on. I found a great free tiler for the texture files though! lol :) Providing the texture is in proper form this will texture a large area to make clothing out of.

I did but I dont know what to look for. The ones I saw were all on how to make the texture file, not how to use it.

Have you made any clothes using the procedures described in the various tutorials mentioned in the stickies?

If not, I would suggest doing so.

I wasn't being snippy, I was giving straightforward, simply worded advice.

Your question is not very clear. It gives me the impression that you may not have ever made any clothing in SL. I think it's a wording problem. I suspect you will get a better answer if you try to rephrase and clarify your question.

The program you linked to is a tile making program. Are you looking for info on how to use tiled textures in a particular program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro?

Im sorry I misunderstood your tone.
I didnt know if a particular file type was used when using textures to create clothing. I went ahead and tried using a jpeg texture image and layered it over the clothing template. It seemed to work out ok. I didnt know if there was a better way to do it. My questions arent very clear because I dont know the proper terminology for things so I am sorry that I wasnt very clear.
As for the tiler, I didnt like the look of a huge print on small clothing so I shrunk the tile and used the tiler to make the texture area larger but with a smaller pattern to it.
Im sorry we got off to a bad start and I accept the blame for it. :)

Katnipsox -- It sounds as if you have started down an interesting but very difficult side path. If I were you, I would forget about the tiling tool for now. Set it aside and come back to it a lot later if it still seems interesting and you can figure out a way to use it for making clothing. Instead, visit Natalia Zelmanov's blog and start working through her LONG list of easy, well-illustrated tutorials. You'll find them all listed at

http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/build.html

If you are really interested in focusing on tiling itself, take a good look at the recent thread in this forum on that subject. It has some excellent ideas about how to tile textures effectively....
