Hello all.

First off, sorry if this is the wrong department to post this in but this is my first post to any forum ever lol so pls forgive me.

Ok, my problem is that certain colors on my avitars clothes/shoes appear to me wrong. For example i have a pair of black nike shocks that appear black to everyone else as they should but for me they are all white with no detail.

I have tried all the useual stuff i.e clearing cache reloggin etc even reinstalling sl but nothing seems to work.

Does/has anyone else encountered this if so how do i fix it?

My graphics card is nvidia 5500 256mb ram (i know old one but hey it was free brandnew wooohooo) ive made sure the drivers are up to date etc.

Thank you in advance

Rezz

ps my specs are 3gig amd with 1 gig memory and 120gig harddrive. I dont have bother with the colours in any other game/application just sl

From what you describe your monitor gamma calibration could be incorrect. The fix may be as simple as changing Preferences->Adv. Graphics -> Gamma in game, or if that doesn't work, more complicated calibration as described in the link below.

Since you say other games look fine, you might just need the easy one. Good luck.

So it was a simple solution to a very long annoying problem phew well if anyone else encounters this just check ur cards quality settings it will save you from noobness.

Thanks thow for your suggestions was much appreciated

This is a flaky problem with SL and many nvidia cards. A known bug.

Changing the settings sometimes fixes it but I used rivatuner to correct my settings.

NVidia cards come with a utility to set your graphics. For SL its best to sacrafice a little speed and go for "quality" instead of performance. What's a few fractions of a second if the texture doesn't look good? That's my opinion anyway :)

Ahem, yes, I know about the utility. I HAVE an nvidia card.

This problem is particular to the GeForce series of cards. The problem will go away for some people if they change their settings to or from quality, but not always. Not exactly a reliable fix, and it's not a bug caused by using high performance settings.

My own card has always been set to the Quality settings, and I had the issue for a month before I discovered SL wasn't supposed to look like that.
