I love shorts for my avatar. I see a few around but not a lot a lot. I would love to design some but it is pretty difficult around the crotch part. Any pointers? same as undies. But shorts are worst because it pulls down the texture in the avie and looks awful. If anyone out there can help, I would appreciate it.

I too find that area the most difficult on the entire avatar, because texture is stretched so much. Have done lots of trials without actually finding a solution. Experienced designers have told me they avoid having much details in that area (especially upper/inner thigh).
What you can do is try to counter act against the stretching by shrinking that area vertically in Photoshop/Paintshop. But it may take many tries and many uploads before you get a decent result - if you get one at all. Good luck Palomma ![]() Lis |

You actually can just try over and over without uploading; you can preview it before you upload it. Just go to the drop down menu where the image is when you're going to click okay to the upload, and go down to lower male body or lower female. You can also use it to check shirts, hair, and skin textures. It saved me alot of trouble having to upload and waste alot of money testing with different clothing textures. Good luck

I assume you must be talking about SHORT shorts! Shorts that have a bit of an inseam should be no problem.
Does it help at all to follow the UV main lines in that area? I haven't tried it, but was just wondering if that would help. And, actually, I haven't tried shorts, because, it's, um.... winter (isn't funny how it seems odd to wear shorts in SL during the winter months in some way--well, for those of us in winter climates, maybe!) _____________________

yup... must shorts out there you see the crotch area, especially with the skins people are making now. I see many people wearing these short where you can see EVERYTHING, I dont like them, so I wanted to make them semi short, but not that long, at least 1 1/2 inch long from the crotch area, not showing butt either... I dont want daisy dukes lol
I love wearing shorts... not many people make descent shorts that is why I hardly see them... only good shorts I've seen and own a few are made by Lady AFK, Torrid, Jonquille, My, Andromedia. I am sure if I look better l find some others. I haven't seen all the clothes yet from so many new designers. But, even thou I should design what others like and not always what I like, I enjoy making clothes for the more conservative, classy but fun woman out there, since that is more of my personality. But anyway, I want to make the shorts and still stretches the area inside causing the back shorter and the front longer... oh well, I am still trying... what a pain I talked to Robin and she said she will put a tutorial in making short with time... _____________________

You can see them if you squint your eyes almost completely shut and yell WIKI WIKI WIKI at the top of your lungs while wearing a papaya on your head.

Is there any way to convince Chip to repost that link again? Ive been having exactly the same problem every time I try to make a good pair of shorts that arent Daisy Dukes!
Um, and now when I hit apostrophe, my Firefox opens "Find"? Huh? _____________________

I didn't keep the image. It was just a quicky to show what a straight short hem actually ends up looking like on the template. I'll recreate it when I get a chance.

Okay, this isn't exactly what I posted before but it should serve the same purpose. What I've done is projected horizontal stripes onto the male and female default shapes and then put them on the templates as overlays. Female is attached to this post, male will be attached to the following post. You can use the stripes to help you plot horizontal lines. Keep in mind that these are done with the default shapes and will distort with different shapes, but this should help you plot things like hems for shorts and stripes on shirts.
