I'm searching for photoshop patterns to make clothing in SL... Does anyone know any good resources? If you know where to download patterns for photoshop, please post the link! Thanks!

Try Googling it hun. It is highly unlikely that many of the designers are going to give up their personal resources as they do not want to see copies of their products being sold (not that you would do such a thing). But I'm sure you can understand.

Google for 'textures', 'seamless textures', 'free seamless textures'.

Hope that helps,

You might try some of the links to public domain images listed in this thread:

Fabric is generally pretty easy to create. If you post a list of what types of fabric you're trying to create, I'll reply with some tutorials. You'd be suprised how easy most fabrics are. Search this forum for my denim tutorial for a pretty good example. It's only like 4 steps and the results are great. The same can be said for a great many materials.

Hi Chosen,

I'm hijacking this a bit, to ask for some fabrics, lol. Silk, Latex and Leather (I do have a leather technique, but it's quite complicated) are the three things I'd really like to have good methods for.

I still won't majorly break into clothing at any point soon I'm sure, but they're the things I keep thinking about making clothes in.

Oh, and a really tricky one - beaded brocade. I saw a lovely RL dress like this yesterday and if I had the talent I'd make it in SL.

tutorial list for various fabric types

I, too, am interested in learning to make fabric types, leather and latex and rubber and such, for small idiosyncratic projects, not major sweat-shop textiles work.

Can anyone point to tutorials or such for making those fabric types?

Thanks!

I'm at work right now and my volumes of Photoshop tutorial links are at home. But I built them by simply Googling combinations of words like "Photoshop tutorial", "Photoshop tutorial leather" "Photoshop tutorial fabric", etc.

Some tutorials on the web require payment. I've found enough good info for free that I haven't bothered with those (to be fair, the price is for more than just one tutorial).

In addition, remember that SL isn't the only program to use avatar clothing and skins. You can also find a wealth of information and textures out there by including words like "Poser" and "Quake" in your search. The user communities for Poser and Quake provide an amazing breadth of raw material and know-how that can be easily adapted to Second Life. I would caution any of you to simply remember to observe copyright law and avoid blatant plagiarism of other people's hard work.

Even after reading tutorials for the past 2 months or more, I'm still coming upon new links that teach me a different way to do things. Good thing I love to learn :)

I have seen a lot of the clothing sold on www.renderosity.com for sale by members in SL.
