I just posted some original work up on my blog. They are some nicely detailed cobblestone images at 400x400 pixels, seamless, of course. Hope you guys like them.

2400x1800 Surface Texture

This texture is a bit large for SL use, but it can be scaled down... this image is very nice, and maybe the best rough surface texture I've seen from Ticklerock.

Hey guys,

I have uploaded some new metal textures. Enjoy!!

http://alexanderhinkle.blogspot.com/2007/03/metal-textures-400x400.html

Hey alexander I recognized the texture that creates part of the bumpiness of those metal textures but how does one get the the holes and scuff mark like dots on the metal?
I am just curious about the design aspect of these textures so that I can do something similar.
Also I wonder how you change the color without losing the bumpiness.
Each time I have tried with corell where I recognize the / like bumps I seen to lose the shapes.
When I layer at least in psp it seems to literally make the bottom layers disappear I think I am doing soemthing wrong.
Any tips?
If you don't have time to explain that is cool
Either way thanks for sharing your textures. I often find looking at other people's creations sometimes stimulate ideals or make me wonder how they were made.

It's a trade secret. Sorry. NO, JUST KIDDING! I use Photoshop for virtually every texture I create... basically, I use the shape features in Photoshop, and then 're-assemble' them in Photoshop using the pattern engine. Not too difficult, but it does take time to master. Another trick is to simply take a digital photo of a texture and un it thru Photoshop's pattern engine.

Here's what I do to create rough-looking skin sometimes, that you could use to create imperfections to any surface (this is Photoshop):

1. Copy the layer of the actual skin.
2. Desaturate that layer.
3. Apply a filter texture (for skin I often use Filter -> Texturizer -> Sandstone).
4. Set the layer type to luminosity.

You can make hue changes to the skin layer without changing the surface texture (which is in the luminosity layer). If you make a big change in hue to the skin layer, you may wish to adjust brightness or contrast on the luminosity layer. Any desaturated filtered layer or pattern can serve in your luminosity layer to create the surface texture.
