That arrow has to be there. It's the same one you'd click to expose any blending effects you've assigned to a layer, such as beveling or drop-shadowing. It can't not be there (unless there's some funky way to hide or disable it, but I've never seen or heard of anything like that.) Here's what you're looking for: If you don't see that button, I don't know what to tell you. Reinstall Photoshop, perhaps. I have no idea why it wouldn't be there.

That's really strange, Deea. Before you reinstall, what happens when you apply blending effects? Do you see the arrow then? Try this little experiment: 1. Create a new image, and put at least one normal layer in it (not just a background layer). 2. Right click on the top layer's name, and click Blending Options. 3. In the Blending Options dialog, turn a few effects on, whichever ones you want. Click OK. 4. How does the layer look now in the palette? It should look like this: That same arrow will hide or display blending effects for a normal layer, just as hides or displays the contents of 3D layers. If it's not there at all for you, then either something is very wrong, or else there's some setting for it somewhere that I've never heard of.

OK, I'll take that as a sign that your Photoshop isn't broken. Maybe you're not opening the right files. You should have a folder called Exported CS3 Avatars. In it are a 12 files (13, if you count the .DS_store file which is only there because Robin's on a Mac; you can delete that if you're on a PC). You should have four .obj files, four .mtl files, and four .jpg files. The OBJ's are what you should be opening in Photoshop, not any of the others.
If that is what you've already been doing, then I'm sorry to say I don't know why it's not working. You might as well try reinstalling, since it only takes a few minutes, and it's just about the only thing I can think of to try. I'm not sure it's going to make a difference, though.

Dear Robin and others I think this would be a great tool to help me on my first clothing designs, but i still cant figure out how to open the photoshop file! Quote "If you double click on the Texture layer in the PS file (For instance, double click on the name Material_Top) it will open the .psb file" Witch file do you mean? (I only see jpg files that i can open in photoshop cs3) Ive got these things in the zip i downloaded: Female_AV.mtl Female_AV.obj Female_AV_wSkirt.mtl Female_AV_wSkirt.obj Male_AV.mtl Male_AV.obj Male_AV_wSkirt.mtl Male_AV_wSkirt.obj Material_Bottom.jpg Material_Head.jpg Material_Skirt.jpg Material_Top.jpg Is there also a .psd file? (Im working on windows, so the zip file doesnt open properly, i have to copy things out of the zip, that use to work fine with the templates you provided Robin). Can you help me out? Thanks in advance ! Jally Jayaram

(I posted this over on the Building forum, but thought it might be worthwhile cross-posting to this thread.)
Hi Does anybody know how I can apply a material (like a numbered test pattern) to my sculptie in Blender which I can then export to an .obj file and then import as a 3d layer in Photoshop CS3 extended?
Many thanks, -Milla
