Ethics: Photosourcing, copyright and lawsuits.

It is exactly these kinds of conversations that have been very
educational and motivating for me to learn not only copyright
law but the general ethics concerning digital art creations.

And the law and the ethics are clearly two distinct subjects.

I go to great lengths to make sure that all of my texture
products are not only legal but ethical as well.

Not to try to be on any kind of high horse or anything, but
to be genuinely proud of my work as well as being a
fair trader and creator within the community. I think it is
important for a person that considers themselves to be a
digital artist keep their professional reputations in mind.

In addition as SL increasingly blends with more and more
real world activities and awareness, those reps will become
increasingly important.

I noticed right away that the general ethics for artists on the
general WWW were different than what was considered ok
by the less informed creators in SL.

Anyway, I have quite a few suitable original art textures
that content creators may use with full confidence of legality
and ethical fairness (shameless plug).

Alex and subgirl( btw, subgirl I don't even know you), you came here to attack because I kicked your mistress off our land and its not only because of her rebuilding the object I gave her but also and mainly because she wasted over 4 months of our life. She asked me for help, a free place to build her club and I as her friend helped her, but she took advantage of that and basically used us. For months she did nothing and the land looked like a sandbox coming up with one pathetic excuse after another. We couldn't even put the shop back out for months and lost money there. She had so many reasons.. crisis this or crisis that and most of the crisis was due to gor fiction.. or she is mistreated because she is black or because she is a lesbian gor mistress or one thing after another.. bla bla bla bla drama.. we heard it all and now finally seeing an object which I gave to her in good faith and no she didn't once say she would rebuild it as her own and its really just the tip of the iceberg compared to all of the other crap.. it was as they say the straw that broke the camels back. So now you two come here derailing this thread, inciting, attacking and insultiing, discussing my personal and private information on an open and public forum which really doesn't concern you at all other than you are her slaves or you think you are in SL .. well Alex is at least (although I don't personally believe in Gor but to each his/her own.. I make no judgements on that). Its childish and petty to derail an interesting and thought provoking topic to suit your own personal agenda. Of course none of this is revelant. I'm sure that the rest of SL could care less. Its starting to look like a romper room and isn't that sad. What's even worse is that your mistress has her little gor slaves do her dirty work for her. You can try to skirt around the issues but its clear what this is about. For shame. Now I ask you to stop this and let's be adults and delete all of the offtopic and personal posts which don't belong here and at least show some common respect not only for each other but for the poor people who have to witness this. I can't possibly imagine derailing a thread like this in the public. Its immature and selfish.

and i am still waiting for you to tell me where i lied, and why it is ok for you to mod others work and not for anybody else, i belive this is a relevent question in a thread about IP rights which this is, and it is a direct question to your statement the rest of the drama you chose to bring out i have edited out everything else except direct questions about your statement, and again, at what point did i mention any thing but your OP until you chose to try to justify your actions, it was you not me that sent this into personal issues, i questioned your ethics in a thread about ethics, how is that derailing anything?

Of course you didn't expect to attack me like that and me to sit idly by without so much as defending myself did you? The same goes for Alex with her catty comments and she knew exactly what she was doing as you did. As I said, you didn't have all the facts and frankly its none of your business and I don't need to validate my actions to you or her.

This thread was about photosourcing not about the personal issues between myself and another SL user which doesn't concern you nor Alex nor anyone else. Asking me what Vampires I am Queen of is also nothing to do with the topic.

To answer your question YET once again I said if I PAY for an object or item that I feel that I have the right to modify it. It does not mean you can can take all of the coding and rebuild it claiming its your own and furthermore.. this was not paid by her. It was a gift and she said she would ONLY change a few textures .. NOTHING else. Had I known she would rebuild it entirely, I would have never given it to her mod. She asked for it mod and I actually I had to take the time to remove some pose balls in order for it to be mod. I really didn't want to give it mod.

Whatever I make, clothes, etc.. I give to my friends free but I think its wrong to take advantage of that and also even if she didn't mod the item she would have had to leave. For months I defended her with my friend who wanted her gone.. I kept covering her back over and over and over again until finally I was tired of fighting with my special friend because of her. I felt deeply hurt by it all because I tried to help her.

Finally stop the drama because you don't know me nor do I know you. The only reason you and Alex posted is because I evicted your mistress off the land yesterday after she abused my friendship for over 4 months. Yes you did open this up and it continued and now I have asked you and Alex both to please stop it because it doesn't belong in the forum. That's really all I have to say about this subject so talk to the wall and not to me.

This started out as a very interesting discussion of a very important subject but at some point it went totally off track. I am closing it because of the inflammatory nature of some of the last few threads as well as revealing information about avies that has no bearing on the initial discussion.
