Now I know sometimes vendors dont give an object due to lag, but has anyone had more troubles than usual? For example... on one of my vendors it wasnt giving the Sensual Proposal Mat and people kept IMing me saying they never got the item... I didn't think twice about it and just figured it was due to lag or something, then I kept getting more and more IM's about it... so I went and checked it out for myself, bought the item, never got it... reset the vendor, bought the item, never got it... recompiled the vendor, bought the item, never got it... rinse and repeat... This vendor was giving this item properly before, not sure what happen... so as a work around I renamed the object and relisted it on the vendor, it now gives the product again... but what the heck is really going on? Whats causing this?

I had this problem after SL 1.9. It was fine after one of the following rolling updates though. I assumed it was a rolling update that fixed it. It might've been something else. See this thread for more juicy info: /108/c9/93877/1.html

I sold vendors a little while ago, and have had a few people IM me mistaking me as the creator of the item, saying they didn't get it or there was a problem. Hasn't happened today though.

It wasn't a vendor... but I was having trouble last night setting something to sell a copy. The person testing it for me bought it a few times... with nothing, then like 15 minutes later got all the inventory delivered.

I've actually got a solid, reproducable bug that has been occuring since 1.9, and I've seen it pop up several times on SLBoutique.com. Basically, llGiveInventory is failing on what would appear to be random items. I walked Phoenix Linden through the bug and she is working on figuring out what is going on.
Now, to understand fully, llGiveInventory isn't failing COMPLETELY randomly, just on what would appear to be random items. Here's an example:
Let's say I'm selling 100 items through SLBoutique. I have 100 items loaded in my in-world prim (similar to a vendor). Out of the 100 items, 99 will always deliver perfectly, as they should. However, 1 out of the 100 items will always fail. I've checked to make sure the avatar's key and item name are being passed 100% correctly (iNcLuDiNg CaPs), but it always fails for just that particular item. There's been no rhyme or reason to this; I've checking for extra spaces, special characters, and it seems to be occuring with random items.
As you can imagine, this has made SLBoutique.com customer service a nightmare lately. Fortunately, it seems to be a very, very small percentage of items, and an item will either be passed successfully 100% of the time, or fail 100% of the time, so its easy to reproduce.
I'm hoping they get this fixed soon. Its a nightmare, especially when you're working on the scale of 35000 - 40000 total items.
Thanks to everyone for bearing with us.
Regards,
-Flip

From: FlipperPA Peregrine Basically, llGiveInventory is failing on what would appear to be random items. Hot dang it is. Yes, we sent out 1780 updates to our fox avs, and now we're getting messages back, there's a percentage (albeit small) who simply never received them, even though I -know- they were llGiveInventory'd to them. I know giving lists can be unreliable but I think this is -fairly- new behavior for GiveInventory... Though admittedly, some of these, have showed up in folks' inventories silently a while later...

* sorry in advance Sensual, I don't actually believe this, just trying to illustrate a point *
Why has this not been whisked off to the technical support forum? It is a technical issue clearly, and we can't have anything at all in General that has a hint of belonging in another forum.

Why has this not been whisked off to the technical support forum? It is a technical issue clearly, and we can't have anything at all in General that has a hint of belonging in another forum. For several reasons. Its a possible candidate for being moved, but not clear cut, as as a technical issue it currently seems to be doing quite well here. It also has a high level of discussion. The primary reason threads about problems with SL are moved from General to Technical Issues is because they very often get lost, and do better in Technical Issues. It may however be moved shortly, as people looking for similar threads to make sure they aren't posting duplicates will probably be looking in technical issues. I thought I'd leave it here for a while first, and see how it goes. Edit: Call it a learning experience, or is this a lose/lose situation?

Let's also just say it: General gets the most eyeballs. When there's something out there that should be known about, that hasn't been addressed in a Linden announcements forum, General is the best way to get the word out currently at resident's disposal (a good example is the "The grid's back up!" thread(s) that always appear after downtime). Most sellers I know never go into the Technical Issues forum, since 99% of the posts there are of the nature, "I can't log in, my system isn't working" instead of SL-wide issues of interest to the general population. If you can get the word out in General, however, there's a good chance of "word of mouth" helping spread the news in world. This was a huge help when the permissions bug hit after v1.5. This conjecture isn't to say that Cris and Zap are incorrect in either of their interpretation of the guidelines; however, I think there should be a new rule put at the top of the forum guidelines for all of us: (1) Use common sense. If you don't have any, the forum regulars will let you know and be arriving with shotguns shortly. Regards, -Flip
