Have the recent suspensions been fair and reasonable?

Whether for humor or community service, various posts have drawn more undeserved and unjustified bans in the last two weeks than in the last six months. This hostility toward the customer base is not acceptable.

This hostility toward the customer base is not acceptable. We don't always see what's going on behind the scenes or get the whole story. What's unacceptable is the amount of BS that doesn't get people banned. Just my L$0.02

From: Burnman Bedlam What's unacceptable is the amount of BS that doesn't get people banned. Exactly! Why are there so many undeserved and unjustified bans, while real griefing (in world) and trolling (in forum) goes unchecked? Do we all really need to be protected from Cristiano's warning or humorous posts in the forums? Of course not. It doesn't serve the community one bit.

From: Burnman Bedlam You know... I don't know where you all hang out in SL... but I haven't been griefed in a couple of months. I'd be interested to see a demographic map with "crime rate" indicated in pretty colors. Seriously though... my shop is on the main grid, not a private isle, and I haven't been attacked in quite some time. Give it time..

From: Yiffy Yaffle Give it time.. I have been... it seems that the issues I have encountered in the past are on the decline, at least as far as my experiencing them. Maybe I've just got some good luck.

Cristiano is one of the finest citizens that Second Life is lucky enough to have.
If they treat him like this, it shows that they regard their customers as shit. There has been evidence of this in the past, now it is confirmed.
Not a good feeling.
I said in another posting that when I first joined Second Life I felt that we (Linden Lab and the users) were engaged on a joint enterprise. Over the years that has changed, and now I'm afraid I'm beginning to see them as the enemy.

From: Lewis Nerd Who are we?
Loyal, committed customers who pay to keep their company alive, that's who.
In actual fact, we have far more 'invested' in Second Life than some greedy VC who's throwing money at Linden Lab in the hope of turning a profit out of it.
Lewis Yes thats good point.....I sent more time helping peopl then i did myself over my mentor/greeter life. My sole purpose was to hlp those in need of help which i did longer then I did before mentor/greeter. Even before i was always helping others. The game has changed so much ( not all for the good).

I believe the current moderation practices are actually causing more grief than the posts created by the individuals in the first place. Um. Am I allowed to say that? I don't even know anymore. ~Ulrika~

Suspend them all...
07-26-2006 18:17
I see there are still people here that should have been suspended or kicked out at least two and a half years ago (they are still as annoying as ever). That means that Lindens are still being too lenient. Suspend them all, let God sort them out...

From: Mirra Hathor It seems a lot like beating your dog for barking, nevermind he's barking at some guy who's climbing in your back window. Who else are you gonna blame for leaving the back window open?

From: Susie Boffin What suspensions? People were suspended for discussing an exploit. Cristiano Midnight, among others. You can't look at the threads to see what it was about because the threads are deleted from our view.

From: Susie Boffin Thanks SuezanneC but if I may quote my mother,"Show me where it is wriiten that life is supposed to be fair." I don't think I made any comment about life being fair. You asked what suspensions, I attempted to give part of an answer. A form search for exploit and one for suspension should yield more information. Checking the forums at forums.secondcitizen.com and forums.sluniverse.com would yield a bit more.

The identity of the person suspended has nothing to do with the suspension. If I may quote my pladitudinal mother again," You do the crime you do the time." I am so happy my mother gave me all of these wonderful platitudes.

On what basis do you conclude anyone did a crime?

If no crime was committed and no one was suspended then what is the point of this thread?

From: Susie Boffin If no crime was committed and no one was suspended then what is the point of this thread? This presumes that one who is innocent of a crime cannot be suspended. Which, I believe, is the point of this thread.

I got suspended for posting a BUG not an exploit.
Exploits require that someone PROFITS from it.
