I got some kinda funky 'Hey cat your computer clock is off/out of sync blah blah blickety blah' message. Only problem with this? I use Linux. For those people who use windoze, we, in linux have this nice little nifty thing called ntpd...stands for Network Time Protocol Daemon....aside from all the techspeak, what it does is synchs my clock with the national time sources around the US so that it's never more than 128ms (that's milliseconds!) off one way or the other....so, what gives? Just a generic foo message given to people arbitrarily kicked out of the logon queue?
Tal...
PS...I'm in now while I was typing this! Squee!!!

I've merged some threads on the same topic. Slowdown and the occasional error message are to be expected, but logins are indeed open. Happened to me too.
Persist and welcome back into Second Life!

From: Torley Linden I did a test login and it took me several minutes. Started out with a blank screen and then eventually got me to the Logging In section, and then the progress bar filled up after that. Don't worry. Torley I been trying for an hour

It is now going on two hours since the grid "opened up"
I have posted my issue on both the Answers and Technical Help forums.
I would like some response on the forums that yes you are aware of the issue of the invalid packet on region handshake and are working to fix it
NOTE / Edit:
For those of you getting the invalid packet on region handshake.. if the region you were last in is not your Home location. Change the setting in your preferences to log in to home location and you should be able to log in.

This is getting beyond frustration now

Ive been trying to connect since it said grids are up and opened again.
Ive gotten various messages from Clock to getting stuck on the region handshake
The sim I last logged in was my home sim of Yeol.. My husband was logged in the same sim, now I know its just a game, but for those of us who are unable to get out in the real world due to various illnesses this is our way of doing things.
Can a linden check on this please?
I dont pay for downtime, and ive read what the TOS and stuff has said, I dont want compensation, i wont get it, i want to get into the game. I have things id like to get done, a festival id like to attend that im a part of, as do the others im sure who are stuck on the outside of SL and frantically trying to get in to do the things they want and need to do.
Ok am done ranting for now...goes to try and log in again...before killing the computer.

I've been suggesting this: Let's do something. Please close SL and click on this: secondlife://Plum It'll restart SL in a different region. (I'm here inworld right now.) Some regions are still disconnected; they're being fixed back up. But Plum is fine, so give it a spin.

From: SuCCuBuS Domela if anyone cares to answer me? IS siva up? Ah, pardon. Yes Preview Grid (SIVA) is up... I just logged in there. Looks like there are quite a few Resis around.
