The prims are wobbling. The cyan scrolling screen waves at the top when you see them side on, and the prim to the left of him when he's falling is waving like a flag. Is that what you mean? Is this a follow-on from the red tail movement? _____________________

It is very artful. I almost cried at the end, but then remembered today is supposed to be a happy day.
Note the usage of what appears to be subtle hardware lighting near the beginning, when Ben is sitting in his chair. There are nuances... ayup, lose your rigidity. _____________________

Father showed me an old movie called Yellow Submarine - I remember when one of the Beatles guys was walking around looking at holes.. The ending with the door.. reminded me about that movie..
I liked both,.,, /Tina _____________________

I want to know more about "flexible prims" so i might possibly plan ahead, whether linked prims flex according to where they're linked ont he prims etc.
Not a bad video, the "computer's" voice was overpowering. |

Close to the end of the video, the voice says: "flexible objects and hardware lighting in 1.9.1, please enter." So, just around the corner. Great news

It's true ppl. Come on. Besides, before the 1.9 release, Karen had mentioned:
"...flexible attachments (Ben showed a video on his blog) In development right now. Targeted for release AFTER the next major release." So 1.9 came and now they're targeting introduction of flexible attachments for 1.9.1. _____________________

Flexible objects and hardware lighting are indeed in 1.9.1. We are going through the pre-preview QA cycle now and hope to have a preview to you all soon.
Flexible objects are rendered on the client side. For that reason they are all phantom (non-colliding). A flexible object with a ball at the end will not operate like a ball on a string. The ball will remain in place while the flexible object flexes. Flexible objects can be disabled on the client side. Hardware lighting should bring pretty glowy lights to the masses. The 6 nearest lights will affect your view, while all other lights will not be rendered. In testing we've found this doesn't affect frame rate that much! An option for software light rendering is also available. The good news is hardware lighting doesn't require your card to support shaders (like water does). I can't offer any more insight than that right now. Stay tuned to the Announcements forum to see when the 1.9.1 preview opens. _____________________

While the video is great, I also express "Cautious Optimism" and will believe it when I'm using it in a release version (remember, Preview features are not guarenteed released ;P).
Flexible prims would be great, but client-side kinda sucks since not everyone will see things moving the same way, it might not make that much of a difference, but I'm more of a "shared experience" kinda person. The thing about them being phantom also kinda sucks since it doesn't give us interactable curtains and the like (like if I walk through a curtain, it would move and flex based on my interaction). But I suppose if you could pysicaly interact with them, that it would cause alot more calculations which may be trouble. However its a cool effect and I look forward to seeing it in use. I don't really see any difference in the video in regards to lighting. Again, great video Benjamin. ![]() _____________________

Yeah, I wouldn't see non-phantom flexiprims until we had some non-sucky physics, myself... and for a lot of the obvious applications, I don't see it being too bad a limitation. _____________________
